i forgot to ask, what do i use to support the cpu without bending the pins while im cleaning it?

Do i hold it by its side, or leave it in the motherboard?

i usually put it in some sort of foam so that the pins stick into the foam...

                      Leave it in the socket.

You'll want to support it well, especially if it's an AMD chip. They're quite a bit more fragile than Intel's offerings. I just use rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) when I need to. It dries very quickly.

well my friend and I took off the stuff today using goof off, its like rubbing alcohal, and q-tips/tissues/cotton balls. We then put on some nice arctic silver thermal compund and it dropped from being in the high 30's to around 32/33 C. Plus after its used for a number of hours and "breaks in" itll be running even cooler. So im happy.
                            Yay
