Help me with my internet connection!

Help me get my laptop hooked up to our internet!

we have Roadrunner which runs into a "Linksys 5 port workgroup hub" then goes to our main PC (which I'm on right now)...

it has 4 other open ports and when I run another network cable from the hub (port 2) to my laptop it recognises the signal, but seys the connection is blocked and access is denied

Even when I swap the PC's network cable to my laptop it wont give me access to the internet I'm so pissed that I'm computer handicapped!

I really want to get my laptop hooked up also so I can transfer files without burning a CD every 5 min

    please help!

Run winipcfg (or ipconfig) on each PC and give me the IP addess, Subnet Mask and Gateway for each machine. We'll start there.

Ok, what OS are on the PCs?

If it's NT, 2000, XP open a DOS window (Start->Run, type CMD and hit enter)
        type in IPCONFIG
this will bring you up a bunch of numbers. We are interested in three of these

        IP Address
        Subnet Mask
        Default Gateway

If you are running 95, 98, ME open the winipcfg application (Start->Run, type in WINIPCFG and hit enter.
This will bring up a small window with numbers in it. We are interested in three of these.

        IP Address
        Subnet Mask
        Default Gateway
