Like the President of the United States would have a bug strapped in the one place that would show most. From his legs to his armpits, there are dozens of concealable places, but they taped it to his back? And where's the ear piece?

While I know little of the anatomy of these it might very well be one of these.

well, at first glance it looked like the shadow line above the mystery rectangular shape on Bush's back was created by a hidden wire of some sort, but on closer inspection it appears to just be the natural shadow created by his right shoulder blade as the light hits him from above and from the left.

With that in mind, it doesnt really seem as suspicious to me, it could be a number of things.

Besides, during the debate Bush was totally befuddled, at a loss for words, and given to automated repition of a few simple phrases durring the whole of the broadcast..........in other words, he was just being himself. If the GOP was going to have Bush wired, they would have used someone on the other end with more intelligence, and articulation, than Bush posseses. They did'nt......................

Television hosts and news anchors wear earpieces, called IFBs (for internal foldback, or feedback) which fit in the ear canal and are almost invisibly small, to receive cues from their producers.-

The technolodgy does exist as that statement suggests.

It's the government, for all we know they have the ability to send messages straight to his brain from a satellite....So to say that they would give him a thing that would obviously protrude from his back instead of a small NSA Style mic is just proposterous.

Utterly rediculous but good for a laugh. As everyone above me has stated it could be a number of things. The first thing that popped into my head was the same as another person stated. "they couldn't find a better spot for such a device". Also others have stated his debate would have been a lot better because he was obviously just being himself. Befuddled Bush.
