.223 automatic handgun?

This question is for the guys that are into handguns.
I have just stared a fire arm collection and am looking into a Handgun now. I'd like to find a automatic style hand gun that will shoot .223 rifle rounds. Reason for this is this amo is very common and it will pack a better punch and go farther and more accurate. I have done lots of searching and all I could find was long bolt action pistol. Any one here ever seen or heard of a semi-automatic .223 handgun?

i have not seen or heard of any semi's i have seen and shot a bolt action.

Yha I kknow of the pistol bolt action ones and the cut down ar-15's but I have never seen a automatic. There may not be such a thing but thats why I'm asking.

the bushmaster pistol is 223, there was also another model of 223 pistol but i dont remember what it was called

Olympic Arms was the first AR style pistol, iirc. They still make the OA-93, which eliminates the buffer tube.

Bushmaster bought out the Carbon15 line, which includes a pistol version. It retains the buffer tube.

These things are ugly, unweildy beasts. They are fun guns, like a HK-51b, not a defense gun.

You would be much better served with a high quality 9mm, 40S&W, or 45acp. Colt, SIG, HK, Berreta, and Springfield come to mind.

Yah, if I wanted a normal hand gun I was thinking on the lines of a Colt .45. My friedn has a used one he will sell me for $550. it's in great shape with only a small scratch on one side. I guess thats a OK price since there $800 new.
