Um Fixion...you're current sig is also illegal. The rules clearly state 50k. Yours is almost 100k. Looking for the sig hammer yourself eh? Might want to change that.

I don't know the exact infraction nor who did it...but image Size and dimentions is not the only thing in the Signature rules. Review them ALL. No one is garanteed a warning on signatures and they may be replaced. And thats one choice of a replacement to send a message to you. Perhaps a Mod told you in your post and your long absence was taken as ignoring the warning? Thats not our problem. Thats yours. But eventualy they will be replaced or removed if they violate the rules. Including lines and annoying rulings. So I suggest if they are dear to you that you copy them onto YOUR OWN space or computer. We are not your hard drive. The mods do what they got to do. You read the rules and do what you got to do. Size is not the only part of the rules. If you do not know... ask...


And if a signature on AO is so important to you... then I suggest you review whats important in life.... and get one.

EDIT: After checking the sig file on my computer, it is 288x101pixels and 6k which is under the 20k allowed limit and the 350x175. Why was it deleted?

If you have it and can size it then why did you not send it to me when you finaly PM'd me about it? And if you have it why not share it so others may tell you whats wrong with it? Hmmm????

silentdeath - if you were upset about it being replaced and not knowing why then that's what you should have said in your first post. especially as the whole deleting it bit was completely false. you did not lose it. and you did not make it. also why should they warn you before they change it? should they warn you before editing your posts too? how about before deleting threads? now if you didn't break the rules that's something else. but i somehow doubt that. the mods here are not capricious. it wouldn't have been done without some kind of reason.

Now, MantisMag, If you couldnt tell I was upset in my first post, then you need to go read it. Also, they did delete my sig. Maybe not from the data base, but from my control panel. Your right, I did not make it, what does that have to do with anything? A good friend made it for me when I was sitting right behind him at his house. That does not mean I cannot take pride in the signature I've had for so long. The whole point you made about mods warning before editing and deleting is not related to this subject. Whatever you say in a post or thread does not follow you around to every post you make like a signature does. I didnt think the mods here would make a mistake and I have not lost respect for them, they are great people. The main thing is that they replaced my sig, they didn't just get rid of it. If there was a reason for deleting and replacing my sig I want to know what it was, because I can't fathom what that reason could be.

On review and looking at it I do think it was done by mistake. I do not see anything wrong with it. I do not find it offensive which is the only thing thing I could fathom as a reason. Unless it was purely a mistake.

You many use it and I have posted to the other mods my findings. Unless one of them can tell me why its not within the rules I am allowing it.

My sig has been up for about a year or a year and a half and then gets DELETED. I have no way of getting it back without remaking it and I have no time due to the current season.

this is where you said it was deleted and you couldn't get it back.

By taking one person's art that was made by them (most of the time) from scratch to express their love for the game, and throwing it in the trash really upset me.

this is why i mentioned the fact that you didn't make it yourself.

both of these are from your first post. you made what happened sound soooo horrible. oh poor me. my sig is gone forever. then you implied that you spent a lot of time making it. both false. sorry but i calls em as i sees em. i'm glad you got this resolved. probably whoever it was cleaned up a lot of sigs that day and wasn't paying close enough attention. perhaps he thought it was multiple images. in any case congratulations on getting permission to use your sig again. i'm not going to say "getting it back" because it never went anywhere. we could have done without the drama though.

When I saw this "thing" on my post, I lost some respect for AO.

uh... ok. this is the kind of thing i'm talking about. i'd rather you just say "i was upset. that's not really what i think." than try to argue the point when you're clearly contradicting yourself.

Mantis makes valid points. I agree it was not delt with properly by the complaintant at first. But after that he was polite and respectfull in private conversations. But none the less it was ruled upon in spite of that early post here before he took it to PM's.

It is always better for you to take it to PM's first and exhaust that effort before you take it public. Its easier. And no one has ever said nor claimed Mods do not make mistakes that can be recitified. Some of the choices we make are based on judgment calls that you may not agree with. So its best to ask first. Then of course there will always still be some disagreements. In the end, when those come up, the Mods judgements will be the end of it. Where there is a grey area where a Mod has to make a call, his call will be upheld in the absence of any clear evidence to the contrary.

Its important that Mods have a certain freedom to look, consider and then judge what is in the best interest of this board. For all those members involved. Not just the interest of a few. A hard spot to be in. So they deserve to be supported in that. And in those cases it would be best to argue your point in private first so you can come to some compromise over their concerns.

In this case, in my judgement, I can see no reason to believe the action was anything but a mistake in reviewing the properties of the signature. And its still up to debate wether or not it is offensive and so I made a call based on my opinions. Not that someone else might not make another call. And that would be as correct as mine. This is why we have multiple moderators of multiple ages and geographic locations. To get a more overall feel for how these things are viewed. It works as well as anything. But nothing is perfect.
