    Is this sequence possible?

    Term 6 is 71
    Term 18 is 29

    Find the equation

    It's an arthimetic (sp) sequence meaning it only adds or subtracts.

    This was on a test today, and I spent about 30 minutes, couldn't figure it out.

    BTW it has to be a whole number or fraction in the equation, you cannot use decimals (We weren't allowed calculators.)

    I want to see if it was possible or not, because that cost me 5 points >_<

                  18x-6x = 71-29
                  X = 3.5
                  6(3.5) = 71 + Y Y= term 1 minus 71

                  I'm pretty sure thats about it,
