yes, yes it does. an event does not have to be witnessed or otherwise verified by a human for it to occur. just like if you had remained quiet, i would not know that you were stupid, but you still would be stupid. and to answer your larger question, we could always visit the forum and look at the dates to see if anything had been posted in the past week (sorry i just hate it when anyone asks that question...)

but yeah, anyway, after that rant... i actually think it wouldnt be such a great idea, whats the point of killing the forum we love for a week?

well it actually depends on what u define as sound, if u define it as waves that are invisible and travel very fast, then yes it does, or if u define it as acually someting u would hear it dosent, becasue if no human ear is around to convert the waves into audible sounds, then the sound never happened.

By definition of sound, no it does not. It makes vibration waves, but not a sound which is what we 'hear'.

Sound is energy, energy never ceases to exsist. It mearly changes form.
When you say something, it goes out as a vibration and continues to be a vibration for ever. It is believed that if we had sounds equiptment sensitive enough, you could still hear the conversations of people from centuries ago.

note that it is talking about whether or not the tree makes a sound. it will make a sound, regardless of whether or not someone hears it. and anyway, i will post a definition of sound: "Mechanical vibrations transmitted by an elastic medium" this has nothing to do with the brains interpretation of the sound.
