    Car decision

I recently totalled my corolla and i was going to bring it with me to college. Insurance gave me $10,000 and Im in the market. Ive been looking for a light truck, like a tundra or s-10, ect. Today my mom called me and told me one of her friends is selling their 94 lexus sc 300 (or could be a sc 400, either way almost the same car, just engine size difference) They want 8,000 for it and it has 100,000 miles, with all the maintence and everything in check and up to date. Being in college, i no longer have the commute to school i did in highschool and will have a job as soon as i have a car, so gas inst much of a big deal. Im checking the lexus out for myself in the next week or so, but i wanted to know what any advice would be.

Can't help ya with the lexus thing, but I think you have a typo in there. A Tundra is a full size, a S-10 is, uh, whatever the word for not full size is. I think you might mean Tacoma maybe?

8K for a 10 year old car with 100K miles on it strikes me as high, granted the Lexus is a luxury auto and I have not priced them in some time but I would at least take some time to look around at going prices of the things.

go check it out on kbb.com, you can get the price for used cars on there. You'd be looking at the private party value category.
Just go check it out, and input what you find out in that site. That will give you an idea where to go.

I wouldn't spend that kind of money on an older car like that. 8k is probably way more than that is worth anyway. You can probably pick up a 96-00 s10 or dakota with half that milage in that price range.

You might try Yahoo Autos, they can give you a blue book value for used cars.
