To me, this is not about being in a firefight/etc. It's about being at the top of my profession--well, at least for the time being.

How can your name be "Teufelhunden," and you plan on joining the Army?

Oh yeah...EVERYONE wants to be in a fire fight,taking out the enemy..looking over at your buddy and joking around about the "Skinnys"....throwing gernades and such.

Until your IN a fire fight...

Enemy shooting at you...looking over at your buddy and seeing a smoking hole in him...gernades bouncing into your position.

Those of us in the profession of arms have examined the risk and found them acceptable. While the acts of war may be the most unpleasent of human endeavors, someone must fight. "Only the dead have seen the end of war".

Just remember..your not bringing anything to the table but a body..your looking for all the training and such...but so are ALOT of guys,so when that opportunity opens up it will be up to you to SHOW them you are worth it.

The SF recruiters and branch reps around here emphasize inteligence and mental toughness as the most important qualities for a SF officer.

Teufelhunden, sorry there are no Navy/Marine ROTC in your area...And i was not aware that they had even been considered. Regardless of that, good luck in the Army its great to hear from someone that is enthusiastic about the military.
