Got a paypal email, is this a bogus one or not?

    "Dear [email protected]
It has come to our attention that your PayPal Billing Information records are out of date. That requires you to update the Billing Information.
Failure to update your records will result in account termination. Please update your records in maximum 24 hours. Once you have updated your account records, your PayPal session will not be interrupted and will continue as normal. Failure to update will result in cancellation of service, Terms of Service (TOS) violations or future billing problems.
Please click here to update your billing records."

Looks pretty official, is this a bogus one or not? When typed in www.paypal.com and signed it it didn't say anything about it.

          YUP.

Put in a fake username/password... you'll see it lets you login and asks you for your account info. The gf wasn't paying attention and signed in so we had to change all our logins for our paypal, email and ebay.

Call paypal right now and change your password..now.
You've just given someone complete access to your Paypal account. I've talked to a paypal rep over the phone and they said they will NEVER send you an email that requires you to enter your sensitive information like that. They already have it so why would they?

that's just it. They don't have it. They have your username but not your password which is hidden by the encryption machine. That's why if you ever have to change a pword you will be sent a new temporary one and not your old one.

Any email that asks you to log in via a link in the email is fraud. No one, not your bank, not paypal, not even online stores will have you do that.

If you did not sign in using the link in that email your fine. But it is a spoof email designed to harvest your account information and even your personal information including credit cards. So just delete any you get like that and ignore them

If you went to Pay Pal directly you did the right thing. And it will indeed tell you if you account needs updateing within that. They will NEVER email you about that. You will find it when you go there legitimately if you need to do something.

This is already posted here about these kinds of Spoof and how to report them.
