Just got back from having mine taken out. The stuff they used to put me to sleep was awsome. In three seconds i could feel it and the heart moniter thing was so cool. I can't believe i was so nervouse about it. If you have not had yours out yet, dont worry about it. its actually kind of cool with the drugs they give you. But this is coming from me and it just happend a few hours ago. when the numbness goes away im sure ill have a different opinion.

My brother had his out a few months ago, I made the mistake of punching him on the jaw.... Well the moral of the story is, dont let your brother punch you in the jaw for awhile.

ppl should get theres pulled just to get the drugs. those drugs are sweet. my mom said i was talking about how cool it was and saying all this weird stuff. then you get some more good drugs when you get home.

you really only have to get them removed if they are messing with your bite. your dentist will tell you that you have to get them out and then you go to get them removed. my dad still has his in and hes fine. and my bottom ones didnt exist so i only got the top ones out since there were no bottoms.

Yeah my dentist told me they have to be removed yet he couldn't come up with any reasons when I asked him why.

only if you have em. i had 4 taken out and so did my brother, but my dad had 5 removed , and my mom had none

I'm going to have all of mine taken out soonish. One of the bottom ones is coming in from the side (almost perpendicular to the rest of the teeth) and the rest don't have enough room.

My dentist wanted to take them out the day before thanksgiving, which would have been really really bad, no turkey

i just got mine out today too. my story is not so bright though... i had to be taken out of the dentist on a wheelchair because i couldnt walk and was feeling nautious. well when i got home i starting puking my guts out, it was awful. and then when i went to go change the cotton swabs that stop the bleeding, i was just standing there and then i passed out and fell on the floor luckily missing both door frames on either side of the hallway. not fun.

oh ya, i forgot to mention that i was throwing up blood. i hadnt eaten anything in the morning, just like they told me to, so there was nothing there except for blood that i swallowed during the operation. hahahha have a good time with yours

I only seem to have one poking through, and it sorta comes through in spurts. Is this normal? There doesnt appear to be any more

I wouldn't get general if I could help it. If you have a low pain tolerance or something, maybe.

I just got lots of novacaine when I got mine taken out. They were impacted and it was a surgical extraction, they had to cut away my gums and then drill a hole in the tooth and literally use a little crowbar to snap the tooth then pull out the pieces. It was pretty neat.

When it was over, they gave me enough Tylenol with Codeine to last a week. I went home, took two instead of one, went to sleep, and when I woke up I was fine. Dull ache but nothing too bad.

It seems about half the people I know who go under for the surgery have bad after-effects, such as vomiting, blacking out, etc. I havn't heard of anyone having problems with novacaine though. And I couldn't feel any pain, but you do sort of "feel" the operation in a weird way. If you can't handle that, then I guess you need the gas.

I also got mine done one side at a time, left top & bottom, then the right side a few weeks later. I thought this was a great way to do it because it let me eat normally and whatnot. I had a hamburger for dinner after the second side :) Just had to smoosh it down since I couldn't open my mouth much.

EDIT: Also, if you dentist tells you to get them out, do it. Not only can it get painful, but it can make your teeth crooked. I waited a little longer than I should have, and my canines are a little bit twisted now. Its barely noticeable but they were perfectly straight before. I don't reccomend putting off the extraction very long.
