I am now in negotiations-war-converstaion with my local cable company trying to cable internet (the website says its availble to get, as well as one other operator saying yes. but now they are telling me i am not in their area). I am getting xbox live to play........greg hastings paintball. I am going to get the little kit that comes with a 12 month subscription and I was wondering what does the setup involve. Do I just insert the cat5 jack into the xbox, enter my xbox live code, setup my screen name, and thats it? Or will I have to call and get a number, give out my credit card info, or anyting else? Is there a cd included witht eh 12 month subscrition card that I have to install on my xbox? Im trying to maek this as painless as possible, so thanks for any help.

Once you have cable/dsl internet set up, you plug the cat5 cable into the back or your xbox, pop in the xbox live cd, set it up, and play.

Yes when you buy the XBOX live kit, it usually comes with a card that you scratch off. The scratch off shows your subscription code. You have to plug in the cat5 cable and it'll connect to Xbox live (assuming its setup correctly with your router/cable modem). You plug in the subscription code as well as a credit/check card and you're rocking and rolling.

I didn't even use the CD.

I just plugged in a network cable from my router to my Xbox. Turned on my Xbox w/ no CD in it... selected XBOX LIVE. Setup a new subscription (takes approx 10mins) and blammo it was on.

You even get to setup a 4 key combination for security so your wonderful family members cant access your games w/o sucking up to you first...lol
