Keep your options open.

Don't rule out macs, or Linux.

You can always get a nice refurbished G4 tower and keep your current monitor. For a good price, too.

Or try and pony up the cash for a signle processor G5(~1500). Or an iMac.

i would also keep your hard drive, use it as a secondary. and buy a nice one.

i was thinking that but i think that i would get enough to at least get a 20 gig one on e-bay. i found a new one on there go for 225-275 thats alot cheaper then at the stores!! but with shipping it would be 300 then the dock is 50 bucks soo thats 350 and i can get a 40 gig one for 400 with a dock soo i should jest get the 40 gig one!!
