Would I have to go with a type of glue on their site to adhere the rubbers to the blade? Or would something else work?

For kicks, I'll go with what you recommended. There's no really way I can try out the blades to find something that fits me best, so I'll take your recomendation and work my way around the style.

I have the Newgy 1040 I believe. They are good practice.

You can ask them to assemble it for you for free, which means they cut the rubber and glue it... ready to go. I think it's a selection box when you order. Oh yeah, ask for the Nittaku edge tape http://www.paddlepalace.com/product....nt=Accessories instead of paddle palace edge tape (which looks horrible)...

Edit: I just thought... you might not even be able to use edge tape because without sponge the paddle will be too thin.

Uncut rubber sheets are rectangles - that's how I get mine, and I use a razor blade to cut it. Glue marketed for paddles is actually chemically identical to, you guessed it, rubber cement. They just hype it as though it was specially made for ping-pong.

"Speed glue" is completely unnecessary for a hardbat. It is rubber cement with an extra chemical additive that prevents the glue from drying as fast. The reason this is desirable is wet glue creates more tension in the rubber sheet - resulting in substantial increase of spin and speed... and believe it or not, increased control. It has to be reapplied every few hours. Eventually reapplied glue builds up too much, and this is partly why top players have to replace their rubber so often.

If you ever remove the rubber, take it off from left to right or right to left. Otherwise, you can accidentally damage the blade because the grain of the wood nearly always goes up and down.

Be forewarned that although this will be way better quality than what you have now, you might have to try a couple more blades later on to get EXACTLY what you want - it boils down to personal preference and what works for you. I hope my recommendation works out... I tried to pick out something that will not be radically different from what you are used to... but I can only guess. It's hard to pick the first one, but afterwards you can use this as reference and be able to compare numbers.

I've gone through about 8 different blades until I found a couple that I really like. I almost always like the one I'm using, until I try another that feels better to me - you can't tell until you can make comparisons. Just when I thought I found the ultimate blade for me, I tried a kevlar blade and am hooked... so I'll have to go through kevlar blades and find which I like best.

Playing against someone who I usually get 12 or so points against, I now get up to 18 or 20. With some practice, I'm sure I can even finally beat this person! It helps alot, you'd be amazed at how much it can help.. even though it's just wood and rubber

That's awesome that you got instant results. Show pics!

Now... you have a weapon. You can now attack and spin the crap out of the ball if you learn how to. Keep your rubber clean. Don't touch it, and clean it before and after use - and put the plastic protection on it. It will extend the life drastically. I would personally replace that rubber every 6-8 months. I do it monthly because I need to.

How do you compare this from what you were using? Details!

Miscue - I didn't get the cleaning stuff with it.. But anything you should suggest I just do with normal household products? And should I *really* get the cleaning stuff? Yea I did put the plastic things back after playing. So that's all set. And I put I saved the box for it so it has a nice safe place to be.

Yeah, get the cleaning stuff. It's basically a residue-free foam/mild detergent. You might be able to get it from a sporting goods store.

You can use water and a lint-free cloth or sponge, but it doesn't work as well. Personally, I'd just get a bottle of the cleaner and a couple rubber cleaning sponges. If you're using the plastic covers that came with it, I'd get actual "protection sheets," they work way better.

Yea, though one thing about this paddle.. It feels REALLY Weird to hold it. The handles of the paddles I'm used to are like shiney/soft. This one is like just normal wood without anything done to it. I'm weird and I hold my pinky on the other side of it (I just like the angle that it gives me with that obstruction.. I was thinking about taping sommething to the end of it because it's kinda uncomfy doing that) and this way it kinda made a raw spot on the back of my pinky.

I just experimented with the pinky positioned like that, swinging the paddle around. I personally think it is a disadvantage to hold it that way in some situations... and I don't understand how it could possibly improve the raqcuet angle. I also don't think it's a severe disadvantage... so whatever floats your boat...

Perhaps the raw spot is the paddle's way of saying: Don't hold me like that!

I don't think it improoves... it's just a prefernce. I don't notice a difference in my playing.. it just feels better holding it that way.. Despite the pain .. if that makes any sense at all..
I'm really working on a good serve now. I'm going for the really low hitting thing over the extra spin... that seems to be giving people more trouvle but its not as fun as putting lots of spin on But I must not be good enough at the spinning because it's not working as well as it used to now that I'm playing better people.

Learn to do lots of spin, and barely making it over the net. You should be able to barely clear the net, and get the ball to bounce 2-3+ times on the other side - if you want to do good serves.

But keep practicing your low no-spin serve - it's an effective one to use to mix up your serves, ESPECIALLY if you can make your spin serve and no spin serve look the same.

What's particularly nasty is giving someone x spin, when it looks like he hit it with y spin.
Ideally, they should have NO IDEA what you did. You can give people the complete opposite of what they thought you did. Deception is a key element of effective serves.

Yea, I do mix it up alot. I almost always serve on the same side, then I'll randomly hit it over the other side, usually they'll be completely struck by suprise and not even hit it .



I think it would rock if I could work out a bounch that hit just barely after the net. That would suck to try to return.
