mine broke when i stuffed 6 m-100s in it on 4th of July...apparently that is the only way to break it since i chucked mine off a 50ft cliff onto rocks and that didn't break it....

I dropped mine off a cliff once. Found it two days later at the bottom. I still have it...its the older style one...the cloudy plastic ones.

Here is a funny little sidenote that alot of people don't know about. The company nalgene is primarily know for making all those plastic beakers and erlenmyer flasks that you remember from Chemistry class. It one of the biggest companies selling Biological use containers in the world.

I do that kind of stuff, so I know... it's pretty neat to be putting cancer cells into the same type of bottle you guys drink water out of....

i have two... one of the big ones with the wide opening... and one of the smaller ones with obviously the smaller opening thats easier to drink out of. best thing ever if you're a boy scout.

I've had two of them for almost five years. They're still in good shape. Nalgene lies when they say that the bottles won't absorb odors. Those two bottles still reek of Gatorade mix from a hiking trip four years ago. I make it a note to put only water in my bottles.

I agree with can_opener. Trendy people piss me off. It seems my bottles are the only ones to have lost their glossy finish. I abuse the heck out of 'em.

I would pay heaps of cash for Lexan Revy shells.

btw, they make an excllent makeshift club.

Yeah go ahead and try and destroy Nalgene. The plastic is made to be autoclaved. High temperature high pressure sterilizing.

The trick to not breaking the lil plastic strap is to remember it's not for carrying the bollte with. It's only there to keep the cap with the bottle, not to support the weight of the bottle when full. I take about 9" of webbing and duct tape it to the bottle to provide a nice carrying loop. I have yet to lose a cap/bottle or do anything other than scratching mine after near a decade of BWCA trips. I just redid them with clear duct tape, it's a lot less annoying looking than silver.

I feel your pain with the hands, bro. i always keep a small bottle of hand lotion @ my desk and sometimes carry it around with me in my labcoat when i am on and off a thousand times with the latex gloves....
