    First car!

went out last sunday car shopping. found a few trucks and a camaro i liked. but then saw this. insane deal for a 93 Ford Explorer. 98k miles, V6, 4WD, power everything, and a sony CD deck. only problems are one of the windows motor belts came off the window mechanism. the motor works, but the window doesnt roll down. quick fix im sure. the other flaw is a small tear on the drivers seat. overall, for the price i payed, EXTREMELY nice deal IMO.

ive had it for a week and i already have a to do list made up including no less than a 4" lift, sound system, new rims and tires, True-Rev air intake, and new grill.

    enough talking. pictures!!!

PS...who needs an alarm system when you have...THE CLUB and the first picture shows the tear on the drivers side.

            haha. something against californians?

yes its..larger than most peoples first car. but i see it as the perfect paintball vehicle. all your friends and all their gear.

thanks mango. really you think the miles are that bad? it was one of cars with the least amount of miles at any of the places i went to. i was about to buy an 87 toyota 4runner that was lifted and had a nice sound sytem for $3995. it had 180k miles on it, but a carfax report showed a questionable odometer...meaning possibly much more than 180k miles. so that one was DEFINATELY out of the picture.

*edit* one question to anyone who knows. what lift kit should i look into for this? im no car wizard so i can use all the help i can get. thanks in advance

Yes it is alot. I had a 92 for my first car the first tranny was done at 68k miles and it was slipping again at 165k the trannys in those things love to let go. The motor was still going strong at 165k though so aslong as you have a steady supply of trannys your safe. Didn't those things have nasty rollover problems too? I would check that out before lifting it.

Jeep didn't have those problems, Chevy didn't have them either...
Thirdgens are still hitting the 200k mark with the original motor/tranny.

can we NOT get into this argument again. we have all seen car company X has problems... ect. but i will say 98k isnt a lot of miles ( well it is, but it shouldnt be something to be concerned about)

any car well taken care of can get high miles ( 2.5 million mile volvo)

I wish you luck with your new car. Just take as best care of it as you can. I still miss my first car. My first was a 79 cadillac eldorado. It was big, brown, and ugly. The shade of brown was so horrific, but the car was in real good shape. It was already 20 years old when I got it. It was still much cooler than the 94 geo tracker I have now. My alias is worth way more than my car.
