Honestly it doesnt have enough miles on them. Lower miles, usually means more stop and go miles which is more wear and tear on the car. My car is a 96 grand am with 120,000 and is still is virtually perfect condition.

I just want this stuff gone, super low prices

Nice Exploder(atleast its not pink). My mom and dad each have one. My dad's is a funny red, that looks pink, and it always has problems which is where we got exploder from(1999). The other one is a 94.. has its fair share of problems but Ill admit its god damn abused hehe. Both feel extremely underpowered (4.0 L). Ford should have stuck nothing less in an off road vehicle than a v8. Body looks solid which is really good to have. Northern New York is a vehicle eater.

Thats just what I have to say, you must like explorers better than me if you bought one .

Good luck, atleast you have a running vehicle (check my car thread below)

Nice car. I'd recommend against pumping so much money into upgrading a high-mileage car. I'd save it for getting a new car that you can later upgrade.

My brother's 98 explorer is nothing but problems so far. I get it when I turn 16(2 1/2 months w00t). They are still nice cars, I really like to drive my brothers. My parents like me having a bigger car just so I got some more metal around me. The rollover factor isn't the greatest in the safety department though...

any car well taken care of can get high miles ( 2.5 million mile volvo)

Pyro is not stating an argument here, he is stating a fact. The first generations Explorers liked to eat transmissions - when you replace your first one bypass the cooler system and put an aftermarket cooler in front, its where the problems usually are. Do not get into this my SUV can tow anything mentality and you shoudl be fine. I did four transmissions in my Explorer between 80 and 150K miles but they may have involved jsut a little abuse getting there. Ok, so I rocked it free once when the mud was beyond the doors. There good vehicles, feel stable on the road and in my opinion, on road, are one of the better SUVs out there when you compare them to Blazers and Grand Cherokees in ride comfort of the same era. They do not have the offroad prowress but make an exceptional vehicle. FYI my Explorer was one of only three vehicles I have owned and not totalled. I Have owned 7 or 8. My friend now owns mine and it has 280K on it, there a solid running vhicle. BTW to get rid of the lifter tap this tend to get put in 20W50 oil.

BTW - its not just mine that was a problem folks, I manage a repair facility and the Ford A4LD transmission has made me a lot of money.

That's exactly why some people shouldn't be allowed to have SUV's they have the i'm safe so screw everyone else attitude. Why do you think it's ok for these people to talk on their cellphone put on makup, and eat at the same time while driving? Because if they hit a car it's not them that is going to get killed.

I think its more because of the rush of american society but sure whatever you believe. The real question, is what is the food most likely to cause an accident?
