    Hey Mango!!

    Be serious for a moment JT.

    I need your help. I have officially lost 40 pounds now. Walking and eating better, etc. What exercises do I need to do to tighten up the extra skin?

      dont lift weights! work on your core body strength by doing hindu leg squats, and roll-ups

                Pillate's will help you alot. Anything that strengthens while toning will do great help as to tighten the skin. Strength workouts will build the muscle mass taking up skin room while toning will make the skin tighter.

                  Seriously, Scott that is FANTASTIC! I am so proud of you! I hope your over that Atkins business though. Proper nutrition does not equal what Atkins tries to pass off on people.


                  Secondly, what you are experiencing is what I went through 2 years ago, just some loose skin. That is completely normal due to the skin being in a stretched-elastic state for so long. The older we get the harder it becomes for the skin to maintain it's ellasticity due to decreased levels of collagen. Sometimes, with dramatic weight loss later in life people need to undergo plastic surgery to remove it. A doctor would have to asses your levels of elasticity to determine if your skin will return to a normal position or not.


                  There are no "excercises" that will tighten this up. Imagine you take a rubber band and you put it around a large ball and leave it there for months, when you take it off it will remain in this "stretched" state. Depending on how old the rubber band was, it may or may not return to its original state. It's kind of like that.

                  If you need more advice let me know, I'm going to start training at Future Fitness in Turnersville soon

                  I'd be more than happy to sit down and work up a program for ya.

                      yes and yes

                      I'm a Senior Health & Excercise Science Major (Teachers Specialization) and I changed my life 3 years ago by going through dramatic weight loss (about 150lbs total). From then on I was hooked and haven't stopped learning Besides paintball, excercise physiology is my life.

                        I for one am in shock mango. Now I feel like I really know you. Off to the woodshed

                        On a serious side note I lost 80 pounds and kept my skin from getting all droopy by lifting weights like crazy/steambaths and lotion full of Vitamin e. It seems to help since I had very little loose skin even though I dropped the weight in a 4 month span.

                            Great that you did those things but thier effect on loose skin is minimal. It comes down to the structure of your skin and whether you are a smoker or not, how your nutrition has been over a lifetime, etc. External homeopathic rememdies do little to curb this problem.

                              No Atkins JT!

                              Walking and only good foods. Cut out the Whites! No white flour, rice, bread, pasta, or potatos!! Whole wheat grains only!

                              So 4 seasons is not going to happen then?
