Never has it hit so close to home...

Just when I thought life was perfect, I was getting good grades, I have friends that like me for who I am, my paintball team just finished 2nd in a tourney series, life was good. I never though the people around me could be suffering. Everything was perfect in Naperville, IL. My little brother has been best friends with our neighbor since they were able to walk. He is over at our house everyday. His parents own a dance studio so my parents were like second parents to him. He is practically my own brother. We always played wiffleball together, played video games, basketball and all kinds of sports. Never did I know how much he was hurting inside. My little brothers friend was put in a mental hospital for last night.. He wrote his friends emails saying he was going to run out into the middle of 75th st(busy street)and get hit by a car and kill himself. He said he already tried to hold his breath and kill himself in our pool 2 years ago. He told his parents before he went kids make fun of him at school for being a dancer and call him stupid because he gets d's and f's. Thank God his friends told someone about it. I know most of you could care less, but I have no one else that will understand this. Thanks for listening to me, I just had to get this off my chest.

That's awful man. It is good that someone did something before he really hurts himself though.

I'm REALLY sorry to hear about your friend's troubles. It's hard when someone so close to you has major troubles and you can't do anything about it. The most you can do is be as supportive as you can.

I'm REALLY glad to hear that someone took this seriously and reported it. They saved his life.

Don't worry about your need to talk about this. You NEED to. It's healthy. And I do care, even though we've never met.

Hang in there. He is getting the help he needs.

Depression is a very serious thing. I am glad they sought help for him. And I hope he can survive it.

Thanks for the kind words, they said they will keep him for 15 days max, but they said it probably won't be more then 3-5. His parents are most likely going to switch him a Catholic school that my little brother goes to and I went to so he can be in smaller class situations and get the help he needs in school. He also he going to stop being in dance and start playing basketball. They are also going to move him from 8th to 7th grade in the move.

Let this person know he has a friend and someone cares.
I understand what you and this kid are going thru 100%
I almost lost my best friend this way.

So I encourage you to come and let this off your chest here. And anyone else for that matter.

So hes in middle school. Middle schoolers are the worst kids, they make fun of everyone, for anything. Its a weird thing, elementary school kids are ok, but as soon as they hit middle school they turn into the worst possible kids, then when they leave middle school, hit High school they start to mature, because if they dont they will get the crapped kicked out of them. I belive if someone did a study, they would find that most teen suicides or depressions would be kids in middle school due to the fact that they are the most non mature kids on the face of the earth. My little brother who is in 6th grade, entered middle school this year, he gets picked on constantly, because he like me, it takes awhile for him to learn something, he has a problem reading, much like I did when I was in middle school. I told him to just not listen to the older kids, he listened to me and he thanked me a few weeks ago for the advice. But recently he was walking home and some 8th graders started making fun of him, decided to push down, throw his backpack over a fence. Luckily I was driving by and got out of the car grabbed one of the kids, threw him in my car, took him to his house, decided to tell his parents what he just did. The kid is now only allowed to go to school and come home.

I hope your brothers friend, gets better fast and everything goes back to the way it was.

I know it seems bad, but this is really a blessing. Better than the alternative, right? Take my word for it, it is. A friend of mine just comitted suicide this week... that's infintely harder than seeing a friend taken to a hopsital. Your friend's being helped, any support you can give him will continue to aid him.

                        Just be a good friend.

The fact he told people about it is good news, most likely he didn't really want to do it. BUt that doesn't make his depression any less real.

Hope everything turns out for the best. I faced a similar situation in HS with one of my best friends at the time.

I guess if you knew this kid, you'd realize he's practically part of our family. Yeah, I'm just glad the girl that he emailed had the courage to tell her mom about it so he could get help. Sometimes kids just need guidance that they aren't getting at home, it was part of the problem with this kid. Thanks for all the kind words.

It is still hard to take in though, the overall shock of it all. I would have never guessed it would happen to this kid. I never saw one thing that would of made me believe this.
