I'm perplexed with the cost variances of electric driers, anyone have any insight? My dryer is pissing me off...
What's the difference between a $300 and $1000 dryer?

Maybe the fact that it won't piss you off? lol
But I'd probably have too say *not* that much. Alot of stuff out there there isn't much difference other than price.
Bleach is an example. Stuff like this always gets me. There's the cheap store brand bleach, and there's Clorox or something. Bleach is bleach! -
Yeah, I never understood that either. Introducing: Clorox Bleach with New Formula! Hehe.Originally posted by Will WoodMaybe the fact that it won't piss you off? lol

The sucker will pay an extra 700 bucks for the same washer.

I have never seen a $1000 dryer before
.
More money = More space. The expensive ones come with different drying temperatures and cycles for your delicates or something. My aunt has a dryer that detect the moisture in the load and automatically turns off...

Efficiency and capacity would be my first guesses.
I see the Maytag Neptune ($1,089.99) has an upper drying cabinet in addition to the 7 cubic foot drum. Could be pretty handy if you need to hang dry quite a bit of stuff.
Maybe a bigger question is how Kohler can ask $1,500 for a "Revival" toilet in black.God gave you a soul.

I just dropped a bunch of money on new washer and dryer. Why? Well I have 3 kids and need the capacity."Don't hit at all if you can help it; don't hit a man if you can possibly avoid it; but if you do hit him, put him to sleep."

it's probably the difference between the dryer in my apartment, which takes THREE HOUR-LONG CYCLES TO DRY ONE LOAD and my dryer back home, which had everything toasty and dry in 45 minutes...
Don't be cheap... the frustration it saves will amaze you.

Efficiency, capacity, and features.
But, do your homework and research all the various models. There are only a few actual manufacturers taht make ALL the different brands. Often the difference between brands can be only cosmetic. So, if you don't ABSOLUTELY want a Maytag (for example) you might find out which store brand is really the exact same machine.Comment

Thats one dryer that I would not get is Maytag...They are good but if it does break be ready to spend some SERIOUS money to fix it. Kenmoore I know makes really good ones and is recommended by our fixer guy who fixes our machines.Comment

Well i know the difference. Our old $300 dryer took like 3 cycles to get your clothes completely dry. It pissed me off so much. I could do like 2 or 3 loads in the washing machine in the time it took me to get one load dry.
Now our new fancy $1000* dryer is a champ. I swear, sometimes ill check my clothes in the middle of a cycle and theyre already done.
Moral of the story: Spring for the more expensive one.
*- I dont know exactly how much it cost, it may not have been a grand but it wasnt cheap.
