No, not one sitting, had to stop for school and stuff (had a mid-term and stuff).Originally posted by Warewolf50did u beat it in one sitting casue if u did i salute u.
I attempted to beat doom 3 in one sitting, man that was mistake. 18 hours of sitting in my dark room alternating playing between me and my frined hunter. We never finished it, got within an hour of the end and couldnt take any more of that game and we jsut stopped, i never did finissh it. All i know is when i walked outside the next day it was the most amazing feeling ever casue the game actually had me believing that i was in dark hall ways for that long period of time, When i stepped outside into all the open air wiht no threats of having giant IMPs throwing fireballs at e it felt amazing.

I gotthe spiffy cool DVD version, one disk
My problem was multi fold, it took over 6 hours to get installed, auth'ed and connected to a server to allow me to play.
Steam sucked a high hard one on that note. Also thelack of multi player is a problem.
But the game play in Awsome, teh physics are outstanding, the puzzles are great. Heck I have one kinda kickingmy but now )
I am running it on a P4 3.0 EE, 1gb DDR, ATI 9800 Pro and I have almost everythingon high detail settings and its been excelent. I have a few blurps under 30fps but not many. Iam only running it at 1024x768 and it looks awsome.
Btw - I hate those damn headcrabs, I had problems with them in the orginal game as well :/
Hell I have stopped to just play with things like the exploding barrels and seeing whatI can actually destroy
-RobertServing AGD customers since 93, wishing I could beat some common since into some of them about 5 hrs later.

So, is it worthy of the name "Half-life"?
It seems most are very enthusiastic, but is it the same sort of eye-popping experience of the first? As in, "the first person shooter genre is officially dead after this."God gave you a soul.

I've put in about six hours so far, but I had to redo the airboat part, so thats about an hour right there that was repeated.
I'm in Ravenhome now. I had to stop last night, it was creepy. Those damn jumping guys scared the poop outta me when they first start showing up.
The Gravity Gun is the best thing ever invented. Period.
Oh, and CS:S rules too.

It is definitley worth the name. I have not tried multiplayer yet, but it does seem to have a good story line for single player.Originally posted by Destructo6So, is it worthy of the name "Half-life"?

I played a few hours last night and made it out of Ravenholm, and into the next stage which has you driving a dune buggy. So far a nice mix of dark and lit levels.
If there is one thing I find a negative about the game it would be how often it has to load the stages in a level. Maybe the whole "time flys when you're having fun" thing applies, but is seems to me they happen to frequently.
I'm hating the venomous, more resilient variety head crabs, and the guys who throw them...

Head crabs should seriously die in a fire. The head crabs in the first one are like little siblings, they don't really do anything to you but they just jump and annoy. But I don't usually hit my sisters with crowbars.Comment

I'm pissed...
I tried out HL: Source.
Um... Here's the changes I've noticed.
Some new physics. Things move around a bit that didn't before. Nothing like they do in HL2.
Water changed.
Weapon effects. You'll leave a wound on a enemy, or a hole in a wall.
AI changed a bit?
THAT'S IT. I payed 10 extra bucks for this crap. I thought it was going to look completely different. NOPE. The textures still suck. It's kind of funny.. You shoot a wall, and it leaves a nice, new looking bullet hole... on a totally blurry and crappy texture of a wall.
You know that Blue Shift upgrade? That make HL look better than this does. I'm really pissed. I'm going to try to get my 10 bucks back from Valve, I know it's hopefully, but I plan to at least annoy them a bit.Comment

figured out the problem with the error saying "unable to init shader system". for those of you who run into it, update your drivers. turns out nVidia released a new one on the 9th.
I can't really say much more than everyone else..this game is simply amazing. I keep getting close to drowning because i can't get over how good it looks when you're looking up through the water..just wow.Comment

I just picked this up and it runs fairly well on my Pentium 2 with 256 ram (I need more). Jumps a few times on occasion. But it's been so long since I played the first game I have no idea how to do a few things. For instance how the hell to you get to the options menu from the game? Last night I had to save and esc. out.
Otherwise I love it, but I may have to go get some more memory.Comment
