Rice Rockets...

OH PLEASE! 13 votes for people who don't race but pose to be fast!?!? what is wrong with you people!?? THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A RICE CAR AND IMPORT TUNER!

Definitions:

Rice Rocket: Wants to LOOK FAST. Has big spoiler, nice rims, nice muffler and stock or ooglie mod engine. Looks ugly sometimes with mismatched parts etc.

Rice Burner: Car GOES FAST and is FLASHY. May have same traits as a rocket but it actually goes fast.

Import car: Car from outside home country

I am STRICTLY referring to the first definition for the moment so don't vote wrongly.

gosh.. fast and furious has really ruined the racing scene down here....

has anyone been to there local pepboys/autozone or any other autoshop lately? lol they have spoilers, exhaust, intakes and a bunch of other crap to puton your car. anyone else tired of seeing too much LED's and seeing aluminum "GT" styled wings set with so much upforce that it looks like they wanna fly? yes upforce, not downforce lol.

Ya know, thats what my pappy said when i had my big block chevelle in h.s., but its all a fad, like muscle cars in the 60's/70's, vans in the 70's, econo boxes in the 80's, Mustang 5.0's in the 80's/90's, now its import cars. We aint in the muscle car era anymore, welcome to the millenium, I think its great kids now adays have tricked out there hondas, mazdas, etc.etc. but also i seem to remember a blown hemi charger in that movie as well, so it has a lil somthin for everyone. How can ya say no to technology tho, 650 HP out of a honda 4 cyl., DAMN!! thats bad @$$ !!! But if there were no technology, we would all be using old nelspots to play paintball, think about that for awhile....... for that matter we would still be using bb guns with the one pump rule, yeah right, one pump, my butt!!!!!

not that im against it im just sayin against the rice rockets. some imports do look clean. if i recall right, adam sarawutari has an 8-second import :) and he even lets off at the 1/8th mark. but look, i saw a cavalier, with a "shogun" style body kit made out of wood! i saw a crx with some rain gutters for side skirts. i saw a corsica with gt spoiler and fast and furious stickers. i've seen a salmon colored civic hatchback with feel's style body kit that was stock and looked like the guy had no plans on any engine mods. some guys remove there exhaust and cut there springs for no such reason, but just call attention to the police, doing burnouts in parking lots, and just plain actin stupid.

o well ill try to ignore more.

My import is pretty clean :) not the fastest but it's pretty quick...I don't have a 5 ft spoiler or altezza's or high pitched noisy exhaust..... hehe I'll have to post pictures someday

i think its really gay how the highschool kids in my area have these hondas and do all this stuff to them and there still not fast. they act all big and bad in there hondas thinking there the faster than anything. i cant wait till my dads friend gets done with his rebuilt camero. now thing thing is gonna be fast. he has all the goodies on it, it is just barely street leagal. it is built for drag/hot roding. he has the back wheel wells tubbed out, frame is all customly done, parachute on the back, its ready to hook up nitrous but hes unsure if he wants it and a lot of other stuff i have no clue what it is or wha its called. only stock things on it is the body and interior. i will try to get some pics of it when hes done with it.

Seems to me a few idiots also bought paintball markers and a video camera, and drove down street shooting pedestrians. Not pointing fingers but theres always going to be someone to mess life up for the legit crowd...

The muscle era (around here anyway) is not over.

I'm almost done with my '64 Chevelle, 468ci block, 13:1 compression, tubbed out body, cowl induction, and I'll be running straight headers at the track, but that would make the car way illegal for street use. It's my baby. Chances are that it'll be illegal to drive on the street, but no one around here cares anyway. As long as you're not doing anything stupid (trying to burn out across parking lots with an annoying as hell muffler and/or going 90 down a residental area) than the police, nor anyone else, will give a damn.

Everyone is into muscle around here, we have 16 muscle cars on my street that I can think of right now. I can think of a whole lot more throughout the town. There are the rice rockets polluting the rumble of real cars though. But there are a few supras that are fast, but the real fast ones run NOS.

Personally, I don't like imports. I don't like the way they sound (or the way people make them sound) and I don't like the way they look.

it is street legal, but just barely. he would know because he has done this stuff before. it is built for mainly drag but he wanted to be able to drive it around without having to go to the drag strip to do it.

Some idiot in a souped up Mazda tried to race my dad down our street yesterday. My dad's car is a 2001 911 Porsche Turbo. Tell me what happened. LOL

Actually the right RX-7 is more than a match for 911 Turbo. Sport Compact Car was doing a prototype that put out over 800HP. As I recall it was either a twin-turbo or one GIANT one on a 3-rotor engine.

What everyone needs to remember is that fast is not just about power but weight too. Acceleration is a function of weight to horsepower. Maybe you only have half the horsepower, but if the car weighs one third as much then....A lite Civic hatchback or CRX will tip the scales at about 1600 pounds and I have personally seen a B20/VTEC engine produce over 250HP at the wheels. Traction then becomes the biggest problem.

So while there are certainly a lot of 'Rice Boys' out there, look out for the sleeper, cuz it will have you sitting at the next street light saying, 'What the hell just happened?!'

i'm not talking abou the real racers, we know who all the real racers down here are. heh come one now were home of the 9-10 second NA civics (texas). i'm tlaking about the "i remove my exhaust off my car because it sounds cool people". lol the "i'm going to put some fixed-up headers on my car after i turbocharge it" people. you know the dumb and stupid.

Do you guys know what a rice rocket is? A rice rocket is a POSER CAR. Not one of those hard core race cars like a skyline r34 or nsx or toyota supra. I'm talking about 150 hp max honda civics with big spoilers, and mufflers so they look fast.

RX-7's have one helluva motor. My brother had one, it was puttin' 750hp. He was selling it, but somebody stripped it down completely in broad daylight.
