    I hate my X5

I bought a 2001 X5 3.0 back in June 00. I have pretty disappointed from the very beginning of the sale to the follow-on service. Keep in mind I bought near the peak of the .com boom so they were experiencing tremendous sales (I think they had 3 cars on the entire lot that were not already sold...). My sales guy sucked (pre-ordered the car, no help what so ever on a describing options, colors, ect). Follow service is a pain in the neck (long waits).

The fit and finish of the interior is just terrible. The controls where the a/c is doesn't quite fit right. The interior door handles were laminated with some kind of coating that got torn up by my wedding ring. It looks tacky now.

There were two recall notices since I bought it, nothing major, nothing too bad. I need to change the brake pads for the 2nd time after only 60k mi.

The car does shine in the performance area. The engine is nice and it handles really well.

I'll hold on to the car for another couple of years. What the heck, it's paid for...

    Good luck- Kevin

I'd go with the Infinity FX45, primarily because you are used to spending heaps of cash on gas.

Seriously though, the FX45 is a PERFORMER! S'about as close as you can get to the Porsche in terms of performance. AND it's purely pimpin'!

You might want to check out the cabin at a dealership though. they are not the most spacious...

What about the VW Toureg? IMHO they are the combination of the FX and X5. Not quite as flashy or posh as either but a happy medium.

Indeed! A much roomier cabin as well.

Some guy with an FX goes to work the same way as me every day, I see him a couple days a week.

He constantly burns out of toll booths at speeds you'd attribute to a sports car.

I vote for the FX just on that alone

Look into a Toyota TRD 4Runner. I am considering one for my next car. I have heard nothing but good things in regards to reliability. They keep their resale value as well.

Dosent get any better than a Unimog! (someday I will have one of these)

Planetary hubs w/ 16 inches ground clearance (this is where AMGeneral got the idea to use them in the Hummer).

If you want to get a Benz, get a damn G-Wagon.

It is the best goddamn SUV on the planet. I don't care what anyone says.

The G500 is nice, but the G55 AMG is godlike.

Yeah, I know. A G55 AMG is like $100,000. You could get a decked out H1 for that price. But its so sweet.

                                The G500 is in the mid-upper $70's.
