it is a real extreme sport, not a fake one like paintball where all you stand to suffer is some extreme craptalk from ecool teenagers on the web. and the price difference between the best and worst gear is a couple hundred bucks, not thousands. and once you have your gear you can do it for free anywhere, anytime, with others, alone whatever.
"extreme craptalk from ecool teenagers" is this pbn or is this skateboarders? i cant really figure it out

i'm afraid he's right. we built a trebuchet a while back. while it really flew things, there is no way it's going to go a mile.

however, you just completely slaughtered the spelling on medievil

Erm... How do you figure? If you shooting something like a pumpkin.. it can easily go hundreds of feet with just a simple small trebuchet. And yes I've seen it done.

Now a full scale trebuchet... that would be nuts. While a mile away is a bit nuts, they do have incredible range. Granted, for heavier objects, they won't gain full range, but they can hurl objects alot farther than 60-90 yards.

"A full scale Trebuchet" as you say was displayed some time ago on the Discovery channel. Some excentric Brit lord sumthing rich built a 50 foot monster with a 3 ton counterweight. He would then hurl junked autos (amazing how many abandoned Mini's there are in Britan) and pianos about 750-800 feet. That is a HUGE trebuchet, as most midiaeval (english spelling I am afraid.. its in the dictionary) trebs were less then 15-20 feet tall and were designed for portability and mobility. They were used to hurl 20.40 pound rocks at strategic points of the battle some 300 yards or so... Ancient warefare was much more an "in your face" type of battle -- often only 250 yards or less apart and screaming at each other at the top of their lungs prior to a mad dash and then a pitched battle of hand to hand melee...

Anyway.. I invite you to check out http://www.trebuchet.com/ for lots of good information.

Ah, you mean the Nova thing? That is what I figured what was a full scale one. Guess not.

And I've already been there, and have build several trebuchets, one of them for a school project I got an A+ on
