        No, its not. Not exactly.

Its pizza dough, and you can put pepperoni and sausage and whatnot inside, but its supposed to be filled with ricotta cheese.

I know what you mean. Having a full-blooded Italian family has made it pretty much unable to go out to eat at practiceally ANY Italian place. Luckily, I found one downtown right after moving to college. It makes the BEST veal piccatta, save for my great-grandmother's, naturally.

Yummy Edit: For any of you that find yourselves in San Luis Obispo, that restaurant would be Veni Vai Trattoria. I highly recommend it. Outstanding fare, and inexpensive enough for a college student to dine there semi-regularly.

(Homer voice) mmm... calzones (/Homer voice)

That looks oh so delicious. Hungry Howie's rocks!! I like the microwaveable calzones, among others.

One of the disadvantages of living in Hawaii is that there is no good pizzerias. Orginally being from Ct, I miss all the mom and pop places in the Tri-State area.

Taking a slice of bread and putting canned sauce on top and calling it "Chicago style" is not real Apizza.

Im starting to believe its impossible to find a good authentic pizzeria outside of the NorthEast.

But that Calzone looks pretty tasty right about now heh.

                        Correct Thor.
I make pizza's and such myself, and Thor got it right.

A calzone is a pizza dough, folded like the one skife posted, but inside contains Ricotta Cheese, and whatever else your heart desires... moz. cheese, pepperoni, ham, etc.

What skife made, closely resembles a strombolli.

                        Peace.

You are so right. Italian cooking outside a 45 minute radius of NY is pretty bad.
