run sprints when you can, do endurance runs when you can, in the mean time, make sure that you stretch daily. by getting more flexible, you will be able to run faster, longer and lower the risk of injury both while running and while doing other activities related to paintball. another thing that you can try doing would be to repeatedly do break outs. i was once told that i was running too tall off the break...i spent an hour working on just break outs then. sprinting, marker in hand and diving into a bunker. i just flipped a lounge chair over to simulate a low bunker and dove into that.

    hope this helps you out

Dont eat unhealthy foods. Take all your vitamins, eat organically(it really helps!)

Also, take Chlorifil(spelled wrong, i'll get the correct spelling soon)!

I know the above will help with your endurance

Honestly that guy in the RL clip seems to have average speed, he just knows how to shoot on the run very well.

For sprints, one of the KEY components is weight lifting. You need to work out just about every major muscle group in order to have explosive and quick speed/accelleration, something that is probably most important in paintball. But getting in shape for paintball and gaining the speed for it is really not too hard in comparison to something like track or cross country.

Other than that just run a bunch of different sprint things. You shouldn't need to get TOO technical, as it's a lot for me to type out, and for someone to understand or care. Just do some...

50m, 100m, 150m, 200m, 300m, 400m dashes. Also running some hills can help build up leg muscles, and running DOWN the hill I've heard can help your legs to move faster (least my track coach had us doing some of those a while ago). Stairs would be type of substitution for those...

Also, you need to run correctly! People with awful form are not only making themselves tired quicker, but are not utilizing the energy efficiently to achieve max speed.

              FORM
-Head up (in line with your spine)- if you have your head out of line with your spine (too far down or up) you lose a SIGNIFICANT amount of speed and power.

-Arms- You need to have your arms pumping in only 1 direction. If they have any side to side play you're losing energy. They should always retain a 90* angle and the hands should pump up and come back only to your pockets. If your arms can't move fast enough, your legs will not be able to move as fast as they can either.

-Legs- Drive your knee up HARD, speed is not obtained by "reaching" with your lead leg as far as you can to gain ground. You need to push off the ground hard with each step and by driving your knee up, you will force yourself to push hard. REACHING with each step will lose power, make your legs sore, and waste energy. It's kinda hard to explain....

Aside from that, STRETCH! Stretch out every leg muscle after a short warmup before a workout. When you increase flexibility, you can also gain speed as a result of an increased range and ease of motion. You'll also decrease the chances of pulling something.

That should be good enough... Good luck!

What about for paintball, you gotta run low (can't neccessarily keep the spine too straight)

I think it's best I get into shape before I start doing these heavier exercises.

Any suggestions to get into shape, next week I'm starting to run every day for 30 minutes (According to the treadmill it's around 10-11 laps) Sometimes I run extra, anyways. Besides eating healthy and this, what else can I do? Thanks

small amounts of stretches and exercises daily, every day(or almost every day) i do stretches, push ups and crunches. dont have the time right now to go to the gym and run/ lift right now, but just that little bit helps. youd be amazed at how much that little bit of exercise helps. at only doing 30 pushups and 60 crunches daily, ive noticed alot of improvement in muscle deffinition etc. and have notice significant improvment in flexibility as well due to the stretching. now this doesnt directly affect speed, but when trying to improve strength and flexibility, it is important to target the body as a whole, and not just a specific area.

probably because he can recover very fast.... after i run a mile my pulse is back to normal in about 3 min... runners with high levels of endurance do get tired, but after they are done running, they recover their strength quicker. Thats why many atheletes can maintain the 100% output an entire game.

Mag/cocker lover---- you're exactly right about the whole body playing a part in speed.. not just in speed, but in fitness as a whole.... there is a reason that maurice green and donovan bailey, and the rest of the fastest sprinters in the world have very strong upper bodies.... the upper body helps to drive your torso forward when running, thus alleviating some of the strain on your legs.

Eat healthy. No more McDonalds or any fast food at all. Eat Oatmeal every morning, drink LOTS of water. Try to buy organic foods, and only eat organic. Take your vitamins, and eat a well balanced meal every part of the day.

DONT DRINK POP AND LAY OFF SUGARS, THEY ARE BAD FOR YOU!

Not saying you eat unhealthy, but the above way really helps.

You could run stairs also to help on your speed. Run up and down for a couple of minutes and then take a short break, about 10 seconds, then start running again. Run single stairs with your knees high then run two at a time. Its very hard on your legs but as long as you do them at 100%, you will see good results. This is also something you can do at home without a gym.

I just want this stuff gone, super low prices

That is a problem. You'll just have to decide when you need to haul buns and when you need to stay low. Just try and keep your neck/head in line with your back. It depends what I'm playing on, but if I dont have any lanes you have to run through I just stand straight up and sprint. If you're going to be getting shot at, a lower profile would help. But you proooobably already knew that
