Welllllll... Ok so I splooged today and spent some money on myself in celebration of my b-day

I took a short drive to a nearby gun store today to look at a few Springfield XD's. I called before-hand and they told me they have 5 of em. When I got there, much to my surprise they had ONE of the brand spankin' new 4in PORTED BARREL service models (the one I have been druling over for a while now). It was the first V-10 XD (ported model) I had seen in person and I was blown away. I didn't even ask to have the clerk guy take it out of the case before I said "I'll take it!"

Needless to say, I walked out with a spiffy new gun today.

Taking it to the NRA HQ indoor range on friday to test it out, can't wait! I'm over anxious to squeeze off a few rounds with it!

Just a little tip, when holding the gun, it should be pointing the other way Remember, point away from yoursefl, not at yourself.

very nice gun you got there. Is it a 9mm .357 sig or .40 S&W? Ive been shooting XD's for a while now, and love them. fora great HS2000/SA-XD refernce you might visit http://www.hs2000talk.com/ Its a great forum with some good people (alot like here) with great information about your new gun.

I use my 4" bi-tone .40 for daily carry, and my 5" tactical .40 for competition shooting. If you are ever looking for any good upgrades there are a few around, like a solid 1 piece stainless steel guiderod that replaces the captured spring assembly that comes stock on the XD, as well as some great replacement/conversion barrels, fiber optic sight sets, and I do a pretty slick trigger job if your interested in that type of thing. Anyways, good to see another XD shooter on the boards.

AH, 1 more thing, as im sure you will learn very fast, the XD's tend to rust very quickly. I have found Eezox gun oil/protectant to be a wonderful product for keeping my XD's looking good and functioning flawlessly.

I must say though, I despise you for living in a state which permits you to get hi-cap mags. the republic of kalifornia does not permit this

After looking at the pics again, the barrel hood shape looks like it must be a .40 or 357, the 9mm has a larger chamfer, the cool thing about that is, there is some great barrel options available to you. I purchased a 9mm conversion barrel, and its alot cheaper to shoot if you shoot 10,000+ rounds a year, even if i shoot the Winchester value packs from wally world. ($16.97 per 100 of .40 vs $9.97 per 100 of 9mm)

MSRP is $525. Some models are harder to come by, so the dealer will charge full MSRP. Then you have our local taxes and whatever your DOJ fee is. I paid roughly $600 out the door for each of mine when the MSRP was a little less. But ive seen some people pick up XD's for $400 out the door, so it pays to shop around if your not looking for a high in demand model.

Thanks man... I'll keep that gun oil in mind! I haven't had this one long enough to really get a feel for how fast it rusts and what maintenance is like, etc.

This model is the .40 S&W, with the ported barrel it shoots more like a 9. That ported barrel makes for one loud *** shooting session too, rofl.

I picked this one up for $525 out the door, which is MSRP. This model is a lot harder to come by and was surprised that one of my local gun shops actually had one in stock. Plenty of sub compacts and standard service models between all the local shops. The shop I got this one from left me torn, I didn't know if I wanted to get the 5" tactical or this 4" ported.... After a few quick seconds of pondering I went with the 4" ported because of its uniqueness (sp?).

I'll probably be back for the superbright Laserlyte laser sight that was mounted on it when I went to buy it, they wanted another $125 for it and I couldnt justify it at the time, but now I'm thinking I should have bought it

I'd like to get a 3" 9mm and an all black 5" tactical to add to the collection as well... In time I guess
