    Hard Drive Fried???? Please help!

Hey guys, I got a sager 5670 ( basically a Alien Ware). Same case and what not, but that isnt important.

I know this isnt a tech support forum, but I know there are alot of gurus, so here goes.

My last restart of my lappy resulted in a "freeze" at the boot screen. I let it sit for 15 or so minutes. NOTHING, the little scrolling bar just kept going. I had my important files on a back up partition so I thought a reformat may help, as it was time for it anyway. So i threw in my disc and booted from CD. Formatted C:, and then it got past the initial setup of files, and did it's usual restart. Then the lappy booted up and then freezes where it would usually start with windows actualyl loading. Freezes on a blank screen. Stayed there for 15 minutes before i turned it off and posted on a few forums.

I don't know waht the prob is, but need it fixed

    any help is appreciated

if you can't boot to it you can't recover information.
I recoment some type of utility boot disk. Even the windows CD would work. If you can't get a working OS on that drive the ONLY other way to get information is to use some type of externaly HD case and plug it into a desktop and see if it recognizes it. Laptop HD are the first thing to go. When you're talking that kinda rpms and tolerances the slightest amount opf movement will cause superficial damage until the drive is lost. My dad goes through a HD once a year. It's just expected that they burn themselves up.

I hope you can recover stuff! I lost a partition about 6 months ago with pictures and crap I though I had backed up. About 6 gig of information was lost that time. Now I have a second desktop that does nothing other then back up and store stuff. When my notebook gets here next week I'm going to configure this desktop as a media server for my wireless network/laptop and that will be the end of my online gaming. There is a coherant risk assosiated with computers. Any part can give out at any time and effectivly shut down the system. If you're too lazy to used CDRW's ( like me ) you can go the costly route of backup system
