    Alaskan Hunt

My wifes dad and brother are pilots for an air taxi outfit. These are my brother in laws pictures of some hunters he flew. I really need to pack a camera around with me so I can get my own pics.

Here is how it goes. Fly the camp in with the Cessna 206, then have the Super Cub spot the animals the day before. Wake up the next day, take a hike and see what you find. These guys got a couple decent sized bears.

I'm not too into hunting, but after seeing some photos a co-worker of mine took on a hunting trip to Alaska, I so want to go up there and hike and photograph. Being a long time backbacker it's always been one of my goals, but after seeing his photos, it's been bumped up on the list.

And I would say those are some big bears. I know they can get bigger, but being from PA, the largest I see are a few small black bears, nothing that large

poor bears. I'm not peta or vegetarian or anything, and I believe in hunting, but shooting an animal for it's fur in this day and age doesn't make me feel specially good. I'm not sure if you can eat bear or not. I'm guessing no, so I find this some what wastefull.

I dunno, I'm talking out of my butt. I just feel sorry for the bears.

Actually yes you DO eat the bear. I've had bear before, it was pretty good. A good hunter ALWAYS eats the meat, or has someone/something that will (unless it's something trashy). That's how my uncle in Montana gets his meat for the year. They shoot just about year-round for elk, antelope, deer, bear, and some wild bird all for them to eat.

I don't hunt bears but I do hunt deer and moose for food. A person is only allowed one brownie once every 4yrs in most areas and no you don't eat them. You can hunt blackies once each year and you have to salvage the meat. I dont have the $$$$ to make a bear skin rug so I don't hunt them but I've seen brown bears bigger that a VW bug when out flying with the bro in law.

The Fish and Game, as green as they are, are asking us hunters in our area to take brownies once each year. So yes there is an over population here. We can just let them die off from starvation after they wipe out their food chain or put a bullet in the bears heart. Poor poor bears boo hoo

You don't eat those? I coulda sworn I had bear meat in Montana. However, I'm also pretty sure it was black bear.
