Need help with the name of a computer game

It is real old. You are this spaceship and you can pick up these icons to get better guns. You fly over the land and u see it below u. At the end of levels there is a big ship to take down. Crap someone has to know what im taking about. I had it a while ago ona a hard disk................

Hard to say wich one you played. I don't really remember many of the older ones that would be on hard disk.. Actually none of them :)
But if you want to play something just like it... there's plenty out there

Ya i found that site. It has been taking forever to download. I started over 4 hours ago and still claims there is an hour left...when it claimed it would only take an hour in the first place........
