They probably had more injuries with their kite festival than we have on the 4th. Only in one of "those" countries could they fine a way to kill seven people and injur one hundred with kites.

There are WAY more injuries near the 4th of July

Approx 2/3 of all fireworks related injuries happen during the 4th of July timeframe. With 6 deaths you can guess that 4 of them happened during that timeframe as well.

                http://www.cpsc.gov/LIBRARY/2003fwreport.PDF

"An estimated 6,800 fireworks-related injuries were treated in U.S. hospital emergency departments during the one month special study period surrounding the Fourth of July, 2003 (June 20, 2003 - July 20, 2003). CPSC staff estimated that there were 5,700 injuries during 2002.

It happens so often that the news does not pick them up, except locally. Be careful everyone. The safest way to view fireworks is at a public display, put on by pyrotechnic professionals. Or a movie .

I might be a sick person, but I seriously could not stop laughing for about 4 minutes after reading this article. I could just picture the chaos that was this kite festival in my head and the magic began.

Maybe someone can PM me why my sig was tampered
with when my image is below 20 kb and was 350x159.(20435 bytes/1024 bytes per kb = 19.96 kb.)

I bet if you had the time and or lack of a social life you could probally find that many "safe" activities have and can cause deaths and injuries. I read in a pc gaming magazine where 2 young men died from lack of food while playing some everquest like game online.....come on wtf!!!!! no game is soo good that you "forget" to eat and starve to death!!! But back to the topic.....kite fights to the death huh?? sounds interesting!! but I would try to stay away from power lines next time.

Or use them yourself with common sense.
For example if the bottle rocket does not come out of the pipe do not attempt to look down the pipe.
Shooting bottle rockets or roman candles at people may be fun but is also dangerous.
Lighting bottle rockets then throwing them to see which direction they go can be an interesting game but should only be played by those who do not feel the need to have both eyes.
No matter how much your drink you are not firework proof and should not hold large firecrackers in your hand.
Do not throw fire crackers into gravel piles or on other such substances which can easially creat shrapnel.
I bet I covered 90% of firework related injuries right there.

They probably just ate doritos and drank soda for a month and died from lack of nutrition.

Sounds like Red Dwarf and "BTL".

I wouldn't believe that story unless you can point to a reputable news source (I'll even accept FOX ).

If you don't know what I'm talking about look it up.

Not necessarily the starving deaths, but an EQ related death nonetheless.
