How exectly do you make sterno or other flamable gels. Want to do it for camping trip.

I wouldn't bother making them. Just go buy a can of Sterno. I perfer white gas for a cooking fule though.

sterno is easy and cheap, but it. open it, light it, when done, put the lid back on

yes i know but id rather make my own and umm modify it to have fun. I think ill ask my chem teacher to help me

No offense, but I sure hope yo uknow what you are doing. There are two evil things that can happen if you really want to use this for camping.

1. It might not work. Then you are out in the woods with no way to cook your food...which sucks.

2. Might work too well. What I mean by this is it could get out of control and you could burn yourself or someone around you (or start a forest fire). Being burnt and having to walk miles to get help would suck.

Its gelled denatured ethyl alcohol.

Thats why some bums drink it. It'd get you drunk, but then kill you. Or at least make you blind.

thats why i want to try it out first. And when i go camping i always bring a back up propane burner

I don't. This is how we made it. I don't know if this is what you are looking for but here goes. Get a lot of styrofoam (is that how u spell it) and some gas. Pour gas on styrofoam and it will turn into a gel. Mix it togethor real good. You don't need a lot of gas. Then light on fire. It will burn for hours. Once it goes out. Scrape off top layer and light again. it will burn for another couple of hours.

Yes but that is not all the ingred for true napalm, napalm takes 3 things mixed together.

lots of things can make you go blind thor. at least this way you are drunk.
