Glad to hear I guess. Always saw AIDS as a punishment from nature of all the unmarital sex that goes around.(I know its very horrible on part, but its my view)

that wouldnt have stopped it, people get married , one has aids , they have sex , one gives blood ..... BOOM there is another person with aids. would have spread slower, but it would have still happend.

The thing is today donating blood doesn't transmit AIDS because today AIDS positive blood is not allowed to be transfused or donated. Also before gettin married it is recommended that both partners recieve blood testing to make sure neither is HIV positive. The only thing I am worried about is that right now we are reproducing this world to death and if we can innoculate against HIV then we are setting ourselves up to eventually doom ourselves with over reproduction.

Quick question, in who's opinion is the cure of AIDS bad news?

Hate to play devil's advocate, but let's say they do find a cure. What's to stop people from freely engaging in deviant sex everywhere? Hell, AIDs is dead, no need to worry.

Birth rates will soar (as there are more children being born and less people dying) and overpopulation will be achieved faster than it currently is.

But otherwise, excellent news. Too bad we're gonna have to implement population control measures in the near future.

Population growth rate has already peaked around 1990, is declining, and is expected to continue declining. The population will not reach ten billion, shortly before the mark it will begin to fall.
Then again when we invent a cure for aids and save millions of lives, cure cancer, save millions more, etc etc those numbers can be thrown off.
A population control system is not feasable in the United States, it is against much of what our country stands for. There are aproximatly 1.1 million unwanted births every year in the United States alone, the number of unwanted births every year is enourmous. If it were possible to elimiate those unwanted births we would take a huge chunk out of the population growth rate. We have to do is convince people to use birth control and make it available, problem solved.

ZERO - ever, none. If they have found a CURE to AIDs then modern medicine has made a tremendous step forward and many other things will be able to be overcome as well.

just wanted to state a few things.

a person with hiv can donate blood. however blood is screened and a series of personal questions is asked if your behavior is at considerably high risk. if you are at risk of having hiv then you are told to place a discrete do not transfuse label on your bag of blood. this might be why they are able to do research because any blood with this label is sent to labs to do research with.

there need to be more sexual education in this country. unfortunately there are too many youngsters out there who dont know jack when it comes to the consequences of having sex, too many do not know signs and symptoms of diseases, nor do they know that some diseases dont have symptoms. too many people are ashamed of buying condoms. heck even old people are ashamed. how many of you knew that prophalactive is another word for a rubber? i found this out cause some old dude was too ashamed to say where are the condoms at the pharmacy i work at.

at my high school we are given the option to take a sexual education course our senior year. in my opinion its a great idea but too late. the average age of loosing ones virginity is plummeting (even though when dayspring eventually looses his itll bring it back up a few years.) im sure if you do a search on yahoo news you will find an article on kids in middle school engaging in oral sex. middle school thats 12 years old. these kids dont know that premature sexual relations can damage sexual organs and lead to earlier and higher risk of prostate cancer in men, and uterine or vaginal cancer in women.

those of you saying that the destruction of aids will cause more unprotected sex are wrong. there are diseases out there other than hiv. theres gonorreah, chlamydia, syphillis, herpes, P.I.D, trichanomiasis(spell check???) and thats just the begining of the list.

this is a huge step for modern medicine though. and i agree with casingbill i hope they do give this vaccine to all the suffering little kids out there cause they unfortunately contracted the disease through no fault of their own.
