Whats going on with AO's friendly , helpful attitude?

I am noticing more and more here lately that AO is beginning to get a bit unsociable. Many of the new users posts recently have been "turn on the noob flame fest". This behavior coming from long time posters , people who should be upholding our good reputation.

Lets all try and be the informative friendly group that we HAVE been known as. This new thing is WAY too PBN.

I agree. Glad you brought it up. Seems like some new users don't know the tradition. And it takes them a while to realize it. Please point this fact out to each of them when you see them. We don't want this to become a habit.

I don't know that its too unusual for us to have some noobs come on the boards , not knowing anyone , and being confrontational like is common so many other places.

What troubles me is how many of our seasoned posters are jumping on the bandwagon and being just the same. WE should know better. WE should use our better judgement and steer these people in the right direction , and give them a tast of what makes this place different , not live up to their worst expectations.

eh, respect has to be earned. il be nice , but still take anything they say with a grain of salt.we have had an influx of members who dont really contribute anything, some times they take away from the quality of the forum. iv yet to see any flaming of innocent new members. but i havnt been looking for it. so. in conclusion, we need new members to like take AO101 or sumthing

You know, all but a very few of us were FNGs at some point. They current FNGs can deal with it, like we did. It's a trial by fire; if they don't like it, that's just too damn bad.

                IMHO, of course.

heh yea this has been pointed out from time to time over the past few weeks.

but i think the flaming part is getting a little better, more posts seem to involve information rather then flaming.

i think the real flaming problem is the new people who dont contribute positively

but those who are new, and just ask questions to further their knowledge, they are mostly not flamed (ie. whats that? answer- thats a pull pin) yay no flammage!

Well, a lot of the newer members that you never have seen before but somehow have 1000+ posts are posting random useless comments instead of helping with the thread topic and acting like Mango. I mean Mango posting that stufff is funny once and awhile but then like 50 people doing the same thing.... ...it'd be nice if people would stay on topic in the threads and respond to the question

Feel better? Newb didn't attack you.

What are you going to do? It is an open forum. As much as Phil and the others crack the whip, you are always going to have morons. I mean look at Pyro.

i totally miss the old friendly corner where i could read all kinds of smart debates between college boy and shartly and many others. Most of these topics were meaningless to me at the time but it was still fun to read. There was heated subjects but it was mature arguments.

now its a lot like PBN. Thats why I dont post too much anymore. Theres a lot of people that are umm well...annoying.
