AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
Whats going on with AO's friendly , helpful attitude?
I agree. Glad you brought it up. Seems like some new users don't know the tradition. And it takes them a while to realize it. Please point this fact out to each of them when you see them. We don't want this to become a habit.
How about a forum for only those who joined prior to 2003?
i totally miss the old friendly corner where i could read all kinds of smart debates between college boy and shartly and many others. Most of these topics were meaningless to me at the time but it was still fun to read. There was heated subjects but it was mature arguments.
now its a lot like PBN. Thats why I dont post too much anymore. Theres a lot of people that are umm well...annoying.
I remember being in one or two of those debates .
Yes they got heated, but they sure were interesting and fun! Should we bring the boy back?

In the grand scheme of things my number of posts are relatively few. Although I have been a lurker for a while . Take it for it is or means to you but this is my $0.02.
With the recent influx of "PBN" type attitudes I have noticed that normally cool headed members are snapping, just a little, at the innocently stupid posts. I see this as a bit of a knee jerk reaction due to being defensive towards the people with bad attitudes that have been coming by more lately. It is a normal and understandable behavior. It is also disheartening and at the same time adorable. I say adorable because it appears that the AO'ers are defending their territory. Nothing wrong there. Just make sure that you are defending your/our beloved AO against someone who is a jerk and not smacking down someone who is just asking a question. Remember, text lacks emotion, voice inflection and body language to get meaning across. Smilies are only a small help. Don't read too far into things.

FUSH?
God....I guess I was probably returning videotapes.
Personally, I think that it is because some of the older users are getting sick of the SAME questions. You can only talk about the same thing so many times before you snap. I also think that over the years the average age of AO went down. I am not saying that young people are really the problem, but that the age difference might be. There is a reason why thirty somethings don't hang around fifteen year olds.
o man i remember those really good debates, shartley would just whoop any one who tried to retaliate. Man those where the good 'ol days.
On the other hand, I used to hate seeing his name pop up in a thread I was interested in. It usually meant it would turn into an argument between him and someone else which would eventually result in the thread being closed. I'm not placing blame here, just saying that it got really annoying IMO. Being the Devil's advocate once in a while can be good, but it can get pretty old if it's done too often.
