    Working in the Paintball Industry

Well, Tom, I know you're a busy man but I wanted to ask you how you got started in the paintball industry. I am soon going to college for a degree in mechanical engineering and would absolutely love to work in the paintball world. I enjoy just looking at diagrams and figuring out how different paintball products work. I'd love to be the man behind the design of some new products.

So, I guess what I'm asking is what steps should be taken to get into the biz? What classes are most important? What inspired you to go into it? Is there any demand for engineers in the paintball world?

I know I probably won't end up in the paintball industry. Automotive industry is huge around my area, but then again where isn't it? I don't care if there's less money in paintball. It's what I can picture myself doing, and I know I'd enjoy it.

Tom, I don't expect you to get to this post, but hopefully someone out there with some wisdom and maybe some experience with this topic can offer me some advice.

    Thanks,
    Nathan

    Nathan,

I answered another post like this one time and got a lot of flack for it. Paintball is something you should enjoy as a hobby because it's is very difficult to make a living in this industry. If you want to do this type of engineering get a strong math background. So many things require you to calculate something you can't see that you really do need math. Besides that get a good general engineering background so you can draw from different areas to get new ideas.

    Good luck!
