Quick lubes are a rip off they’re just out to make a buck. The people working there are getting minimum wage and have no idea what they are doing. They do all kinds of dumb things: they under fill everything without fail to “allow room for expansion” (wtf?)., they put drain plugs in with impact guns not bothering so much as to start threading it by hand first, then deny responsibility when it’s stripped. My father went their for an oil change, the guy talked him into changing the transmission fluid, the car had 100,000 miles on it and the fluid was never changed anyone who knows anything could tell you it’s a bad idea to change that fluid but they told him he needed to do it or his transmission would go. So he has it changed and sure enough two days later his transmission goes bad and of course they deny any responsibility, the transmission shop even said they get a good deal of business from the place doing things like that. Another big scam they have is they will show you some of your differential oil next to some new oil of course it looks old and dirty so they tell you it needs to be changed. In two days though that new oil is going to look just like the old stuff so half the time they won’t even change it. Some of them even keep some old differential oil around to show you so they don’t have to bother opening yours up. Also as has already been stated if you go in for an oil change they try to talk you into doing your transmission, differential, coolant, belt, wiper blades, and anything else they can think of.

Aamco isn’t any better then the quick lubes, just another bunch of minimum wage know-nothings. If you go their for a fluid change they will try and ban you out for something. I’ve heard stories of people going their with a transmission problem. Aamco decided to take apart the transmission for “diagnostics”. The guy went back and was told he needed a new transmission and it would be $2,000 (any other transmission shop would do it for about $1,000 less). So he tells Aamco that he wants to take the car somewhere else and they say that’s just fine after he pays the $600 diagnostic fee.

Nope i got the IDI Factory (ATS Turbo) its pumps out the same as a Early stroke (A little more now ) . It works for me its ALL MECHANICAL so it EASY to work on and parts are cheap also. I like knowing i can pop the hood and in an hr get like 50hp 100ft/lbs more but i not going to do it tilll i get some gauges (Pyro and Boost). Its serving me well i like the powerstrokes but there a tad out of my $$$ range and parts $$ are INSANE.

Pluse from comparing buses strokes to IDI's our IDIS get BETTER fule milage and are more reliabel but in the buses the N/A not turboed and Dont have the Grunt mine or the Strokes have.

Cool... gotta love them diesels!!! I've also considered turning up the pump on my old 85 6.9 diesel, but am too waiting to buy some gauges for it. I've got an a-pillar mounted triple gauge pod in my stroke with pyro, boost, and tranny temp. With my bullydog chip, fuel regulator shimmed, throttle pedal fine tuned, mandrel bent downpipe, and 4" straight pipe exhaust I can easily hit 23 psi of boost and get the EGT's up there too.

You should head on over to thedieselstop.com and join up there if you haven't already. It's a great place!

Yeah im on the diesel stop as Bear_Claw LOL. Great site loads of info and tons of great helpfule ideas (that can QUICKLY get you into trouble) .

I am actually a diesel NUT myself. I have one buddy with a 2004 Dodge 2500 Cummins who i am ALWAYS competeing with (and looseing but i did not spen $45,000 on my truck ). I also have my brother who has a 2003 VW Golf TDI witch we have hopped up Chipped, Avery Mod (MORE FUEL by useing the temp switch to trick engine into thinking its cold it dumps more fuel in). The car is also straightpiped (SOUNDS FUNNY) and gets from 0-60 in 7 sec.

My Truck is pretty simple. Shes a 1994 F250 XLT 2wd IDI Turbo Diesel. She is straight piped (Soon to have stacks once i can afford it). The trans was just removed and update its a E40D Automatic hooked up to a 10.25" Rear end 4:10 ratio limited slip. She has UNBELIVEABLE low end go but it dips off a bit in the upper end. Off the line i can take my buddies dodge but as soon as i hit third hes LONG gone (One truck length).

Got any pics of your trucks?

            Heres mine

Yeah I need to do some work to my E40D so it will be able to handle the stroke once I slap some baby swamps in there but for now it's doin just fine as a daily driver.

Here's a link to my webshots where you can see both the 95 and the 85.

              my webshots

The powerstroke is pretty much the same except now it's minus the nerf bars after they got broke off during a four wheeling incident... I still need to get those fixed so I can get em back on!!!

Your pickup is pretty good looking there bear claw!

Thanx i am really likeing your though. sweet 4x4 shots.

Id like a 4x4 diesel eventually prefferably with a Stroke and keep my IDI as a Daily driver. I NEED a 4x4 eventually as mine SUCKS in the snow. My plan is to slowly pay of my tool loan and Line of credit thne save up for a second vehical.

I actually whant your truck exactly a 4x4 95-97 f250/350 Reg cab powerstroke with a 5 speed though.

But on my budget i may have to settel for another IDI still 4x4 but stick and reg cab.
