This is the disadvantage of in-house attorneys, ones on the payroll. They have to be doing something for the company, even if it would not be done if the company had to go out and "hire" outside lawyers to do it. So they look for things to do

Monster cables are the biggest joke. These kids working at best buy are trying to explain electrical theories to me that they don't know. Being one semester away from an Electrical Engineering degre, I milk it all I can. It gets pretty funny.

And yea, I agree about bose. I don't know why people keep buyign their stuff.

Yeah, they piss me off. I was getting the cheap cable, and one of these kids was trying to sell me on Monster cable. "It's the best!" He wouldn't leave me alone, so I let him have it.

"Why is it better?" "Oh, because of the shielding... blah blah blah." "First of all, I don't give a crap. Second, there is NO shielding! There's just a transparent rubber insulator and you can see the bare copper." "Well, I don't know why it's better, but it is."

This cable is copper, and the other cable is copper. Both are probably 99.x% oxygen free and crap. There isn't much you can do different. Seriously, you can go get your orange extension cable for your weed-whacker... and use it for your stereo cables and you won't know the difference. There may be "audiophiles" that say differently, but they are full of crap. Many "audiophiles" prefer buying expensive stuff - and that's the bottom line.

One of the bigger jokes is Monster fiber optic cable - they want a fortune for it. I love the marketing explanation for why it's better fiber. This stuff is only going a few feet, not a few miles or something.

"I have BOSE!!!" somebody says all proud. "Well, I have this brand that you've never heard of." "What's that?" "Something that kicks your speakers' ***." I can't understand why people like them - it is blaringly apparant that they suck if you listen to them. And you have to pay out the *** for those things.

Another thing I don't understand is people spending hundreds/thousands on those little tiny cube speakers from Bose. They SUCK! There are similar sized speakers from other companies that are better/a lot cheaper. Personally, I think they have ZERO place in the home other than maybe computer speakers.

Don't even get me started on that Wave Radio.

when I was doing in-home computer contracting I once had a client ask me for help setting up his surround-sound speaker system. he said he had trouble getting the rear speakers to stay up on the wall.

he was paying me by the hour, so I figured what the heck. He had smallish rear speakers (about the size of a couple of super-big-gulps), with nice beefy wall brackets, and 4/0 cables carrying the signal.

I kid you not, you could have built a bridge with these freakin' things. the worst thing was, the guy who sold him the cables had simply soldered on a normal 16 guage lead to the ends so you could connect them to your system. The weight of the 5-foot run up his wall was too much for the hooks, and the speakers kept falling down.

I told him to call a carpenter. ;-)

And you could get the same picture for half the price:) I guess if you are willing to spend $50 on a component cable, then they are decent. I am not and I will stick to my $20 cables.

On a side note. I used to do live/studio recordings for bands. I have over $50K worth of gear (for 12+ years ago) and I was buying high end studio cables at the time. All of them are better than monster cables and not one of them were anywhere close to the Monster cable price. For some odd reason cables have gotten REALLY expensive over the past few years. I blame the HT's for this.

Didn't you say you've never used Monster Cable stuff before?

Apparently you missed the point... You said you've never used it, yet you compare it to other products? How does that work out?

                          Squid... your smarter than that.

Have you ever used a Brass Eagle Blade? You know they suck compared to other products right? You may have, but you understand the point

Its possible, to know a lot about a product, without ever owning it, and for that matter without ever even using it. One could compare the conductivity of Monster Cables compared to high end, lesser priced cables etc.

Squid... F for Fail - this is becoming all to commonplace as of late. Winter break throw you off that bad?

i worked for best buy and we were told to push monster cable all the time. Why do you think that is? Why do you think that the sales person insists that u buy it? Best buy makes over 100% on that stuff. They dont make a dime on xboxes or ps2s but when you tack on that 40 dollar monster cable best buy just made 30!

I am anti monster cable you can actually get much better wire than that.
