People good with working on guitars/basses...

Well, my bass has really bad fret buzz. The action wasn't too low, but I figgured what the hell, raised it a little to eliminate the buzz. Well, the buzz is gone, but the action is really high now and it's hard to slap/pop and overall move fast.

Anybody have anything im missing here so I Can get the action pretty low without fret buzz? It has the monorail bridge with the individual brackets if that matters. Bass is an Ibanez BTB405QM.

    RRFireblade, I'm calling you out!

    Thanks for any help.

This may or may not help

    Heh. Looked nifty to me.

Maybe your frets are worn or something?

One thing to do for string buzzes: Put a capo on your first fret and look down the neck, most people use feeler guages but i just eyeball it, i believe string height adjustments are taken at fre 12 or 11 on guitar. The thing that usually makes string buzzes is an overly flat neck or low action, lastly the nut is cut too deep. Try to loosen your truss rod (1/4 turn per day only) and get a bit more bow in your neck. If that doesnt cure it, maybe raise the action on whateverr string is buzzing, but rememberr to keep your intonation the same (string length) Last thing is to take it to a guitar tech and have your nut measured for the strings you're using. One of my guitars developed the worst fret buzzes after I switched from flatwound .11's to nickel .09s Turns out the tech put on the flatwounds cut the nut for them (new nut for me!)

Anyway, dont want to ramble, but try and loosen your truss rod a bit, that usually gets it done (1/4 only per day)

Thanks a lot, and if that doesn't solve my problems then I will just take it to the guitar shop and have him fix it.
