I've got a Wacom Intuos III.
I love it. I use it for digital painting and drawing, mostly. Very nice tool to have. -
High end Wacoms are great, but in my opinion, anything else is pure rubbish. Every other tablet I've used was a total dissapoinment, and not very practical / useful unless you are in "the business".
Or you have the cash to spend.

I own a Wacom Intuos 2 12x12. Size is bad(square), would have preferred rectangular in shape.
However, it's great.....

I've never understood how they work. Since they do not have a display on them, how do you know where you are going to draw when you put the pen down?

It's just like a mouse, it corresponds with the visual on the screen. But it's mapped to fit your display, so the upper left corner of the tablet always represents the upper left corner of the screen, whereas a mouse is relative to where the cursor already rests.
It's actually really intuitive and easy to use.Comment

I see, It just seems like it would be impossible to accurately place then pen down when you are lifting it off the pad to move it.Originally posted by KaiIt's just like a mouse, it corresponds with the visual on the screen. Agreed; which is why the higher end Wacoms ARE monitors on which you can see what your doodling.

Well, the thing is...
If you hover the pen just above the pad, it still places the cursor, but it doesn't make any marks. So you can do that to get your bearings, and then when you are ready to go, actually make contact.
And yes, Wacom sells a line of tablet/monitor combos which require you to have loads of money to purchase.Comment
