I would have appreciated a pm. I mean I understand a mods responsibilities are tedious but if we are trying to have an environment where we work together a pm would have been appreciated. My sig was mostly text except for the AO-FL sig. No big deal, I don't need a sig but all of a sudden its "BAM" and goodbye instead of "Hey (insert name), I need you to alter your sig to comply with the guidelines please."

We tried that and you will still see signatures that say things like "image is over 20K" etc etc and still they are here so it proves that the users don't read their signatures...look at Jonneh's signature (in this very thread) that was done over 2 months agoOriginally posted by TheDuelistI would have appreciated a pm. so we swapped this for the pic that links to the rules

NOOriginally posted by gamarada717Normally I would say that deleting a sig that is 354 instead of 350 is just being mean, but I suppose if you let it slip a little at first, it will keep getting worse and worse. Good job mods
Oh, and wouldn't avatars be so much easier?
Ya that happen a long time a go.

I wrote this in our mod forum -- because I'm in disagreement with some things.
Reviewing this rule:
What is its purpose? There are two things - the resource taxation on the AO server, and the user experience.
When a picture is hosted offsite, there is ZERO resource taxation on the AO server. Allowing users to have 20k sigs hosted from AO is worse than allowing 10 Megabyte sigs offsite - as far as the AO server is concerned.
These pictures are in excess of 10MB (total):
<img src="http://kiernan.nmsu.edu/giving/art_studio_042804.jpg" width=100 height=100><img src="http://kiernan.nmsu.edu/giving/curran_students_020204.jpg" width=100 height=100><img src="http://kiernan.nmsu.edu/giving/bosland_greenhouse_051303.jpg" width=100 height=100>
Did this text have to wait for a picture to load for you to see it??? Nope. Did the rest of the webpage have to wait to load? Nope. Did it tax AO at all? Nope. This is the beauty of multithreading.
You'll notice that you still have an hourglass, but so what - you can see the webpage except for the completed picture. My 12k signature, hosted by AO, is far worse.
