if it turns out to be reliable, it could be a competator, i dont know how they got the recoil to be so low, but it would probably decrease the reliability factor

They've shot 15,000 rounds through one without having to even clean it. Sounds reliable to me.

I still prefer the looks of the FNH F2000 myself. http://www.fnhusa.com/contents/tw_f2000.htm But, I can't find video of that in action.

              Ahh, the joys of Google.

Checkout the targeting system on the F2000.

Still looking for the F2000 firing. But that 76mm

And this guy's shoulder has to be sore after this:
              rtsp://rm001.infi.net:80/~atpco/realserver/M60E4.rm

              And here we go:

              Glad I'm not the meat!

watching those vids brings to mind something the comedian christopher titus said in a uso tour.

the quote as best as i can remember:

"we americans build monster trucks for fun. we build top fuel dragsters because we're bored.
piss us off and see what we build........"

The XM8 project is basically dead in the water. HK sold the design to General Dynamics for them to tinker with. HK wouldn't sell the rights to it if the Army was going to snap it up.

Forming a joint venture is not selling outright. And if it were indeed dead, why would GD want to buy it?

It's more likely that GD has the manufacturing facilities, whereas HK's US plant is not yet complete.

5.56mm doesn't have much recoil to begin with. The XM8 is based on the HK G36, which is in use by the German, Spanish, Portuguese, and probably a couple other militaries.

The only problem I've heard about the XM8 is with sustained full auto fire damaging (melting) the trunion area. Actually, that problem was experienced by a C3 dealer doing multiple BetaC mag dumps with a G36.

                    Your country, a rifle.

                    Keep all of them clean.

I was under the impression that the XM8 is in field testing.. not DIW by most standards.

Thank God I'll be long out of the Army before my unit gets that abomination.

Cripes, re-fit the M16 system with a piston, slow down the twist to 1-12", and bring back the 55grain bullet. A better rifle, with better terminal ballistics, for pennies compared to an entirely new rifle system.

But do you think they'll ever listen to me?

does the army listen to anyone?

personally i've never shot an m16, but i've field stripped one, 2 pins and the thing comes in half.

Ya know, soldiers said similiar things about the M14 when the M16 was being rolled out.
