I'm a computer geek, I manage networks for a living, and setting up wireless networks is almost second nature now.
I do, however, have some questions about the actual wireless signal and antenna, if any of you are knowledgable in such matters...
1: why does linksys use 2 antenna on their access points, when everyone else uses one? does one antenna transmitt and the other receive, or is it something like radio telescopes where two small receivers act like a much larger one?
2: with so many 3rd party amplified antennas available from so many companies, what companies making these 2.4 gig antenna are known in non-computer industry for making good antenna? What should you look for when evaluating a powered antenna.
3: how many decible is the typical wireless network transmission? is a 9 decible increase from a non-powered antenna a lot, or barely a drop in the bucket?
4: if I take a 2-antenna router, and run amplified antenna to two seperate rooms 20/30 feet apart, will I get a decent signal in each room, or will I be hurting the wireless operation?
