    Pistol?

I've started tossing around the idea of buying a pistol latey and though I'd ask for advice.

What I'm looking for is a .40 or a .45. I'd perfer something concealable. The idea is that if I get a pistol I'm going to get a conceal carry permit while I can. Not that there's any reason for it in Iowa.
I have no intension of modifing the gun, so it needs to shoot well out of the box, be rust resistand and relativly accurate.

It's mostly going to be a range weapon. I don't intend to hunt with it ( not that it's out of the question) nor do I need a defence weapon.

I was specificly looking at the sig p220.. any reason why it's would fit my requests or not?

The glock is a great gun out of the box. It is durrable. Hence the plastic casing. Its something you could through around and not worry about it. Its light weight. But as a range/concealed weapon a .40 or .45 is a large caliber. Is there a specific reason you want such a large cal?

Personally, I love all SIGs. My choice would be the P229 in 9mm. Although you can purchase in the higher cals (.40S&W/.357 SIG).
The 220 is a great firearm in itself. You can't go wrong either way: try them out, then get what you like best.

my bro has a s&w sigma. Basicly the same thing as the xd right? Just not a tactical?

I like the large cal, I've shot the sigma a .40 and a .45 colt. I owned a springfield .45 right after I turned 21 for about a year. I'm not a huge fan of the glock, I don't see what it has that the xd doesn't? And the xd is a much more comfortable gun to hold..?

              Anyone else?

A Sig P220 is a fine pistol, but it is a full sized one. Not the best in regards to concealment, depending on how big you are physically. I don't think you can go wrong with a Sig.

Dont get a glock. Seriously. Shoot one first, if you enjoy a polymer cheese grater eating at your hand after 300 rounds go for it. Get an XD or a p99

Just make sure what caliber you decide on is enough to finish the job. We don't need you messing up and becoming a vegetable. You'd just be a drain on society then.

Aint that the truth. The checkering on the backstrap chewed up the webbing between my thumb and index finger pretty badly.

Glock isnt bad, but I prefer the sigs. 229/228 are more concealable than the full-size ones. Remember, there is a good reason why the secrets/TSA/SEALS use sig stuff.

Sig or HK USP would be my picks.

See, my boss shoots sigs so I checked them out and while I liked them they just didn't mesh with me as much. I dunno.

That and I was highly disappointed by glocks compensator system. Didnt do jack.

My biggest issues with glocks are their problems with extraction and the fact that you have to pull the trigger before disassembly. There are too many ADs, even among experienced users.
