    Mac Mini only 2.9lbs!!!

This thing is amazing. I love how trendy/unique Mac products are. I just wish it had more universal support. As an internet box this thing would be PERFECT I think.
I'm definetly going to get one of these to replace my currect desktop, since it really only serves as an internet superbox.

The new, smaller Mac mini with the M4 or M4 Pro chip. Built for Apple Intelligence. Now with front and back ports.

Don't be afraid of a Mac, they are very easy to use. OSX covers all bases, from a "how do I turn this thing on" type user to a seasoned long bearded unix geek. Other than the lack of some applications, OSX is far better than Winders in all ways. I'll still keep a PC around for the forseeable future, for gaming, but for real work I prefeer my PowerBook in all ways.

I'm thinking a Mac mini will be a great media computer (hooked up to the TV). And it's shipping in two weeks, that's super fast turn around for Apple.

Why would you pay 500$ for a internet machine, when you could build one yourself, that is equivalent(or better), for alot less than $500?

The only thing I like about it are looks, and thats not even that amazing.

I've used OSX, and it defenitely doesnt enhance my internet experience whatsoever. Mac's are great computers, but alot are way too overpriced. People will pay anything to look cool though .

The only equivalent would be to build a Shuttle box, which I have looked into as well. This is like a 1/4th of the size and still manages to be pretty damn powerful.

Comes down to a matter of preference.

Well there is no way to build a media PC that small, at all. Let alone for $500 or so. You also get a lot of bang for that price, OSX has a lot of functionality included (iLife and OSX apps) that you would have to get speratly on a PC. And it's not just a Internet machine, that's got Firewire on it. It would make a hell of a web server. 2" is a bad size for racking, but in 2U you could get 2 machines.

It's not for everyone, but it sure makes Macs a lot easier to get into for the majority of folks.
