You know, the worst part of this isn't just the idiots who sue. ITs the jury and judges of America who actually sit by and listen to this ****.
Does this really happen in America?

Just a defense for the decent lawyers I know, not all lawyers are bad. It is usually the "bad" ones you see most often because they publicize themselves and are only interested in the money.Originally posted by brianlojeckLawyers are scum. We have one guy here in LA who advertises on the radio that he is the best DUI defense man ever, and can get your license back especially in high BAC or test refusal cases.
A good lawyer usually earns his business through word of mouth, not buying ad time or putting pictures in the paper (or on the cover of the phonebook). Know before you judge is all that I am asking, although if they claim to be able to subvert the law then I will agree, they are scum.

I missed last weeks link, it had 4 stupid lawsuits that won when they shouldn't have. However, check it out once in a while, it is interesting.Comment

Be VERY wary about the brand of "tort reform" BushCo is pushing. For his ilk, "tort reform" is more along the lines of "absolving corporations of responsibility to improve profit margins."
Remember that lawsuits are indeed useful for protecting the "little guy" and that some abuse can be a small price to pay.Comment

How's this for sad.
Here are three cases I sited in my thesis paper for my law class-
1 - San Diego parents sue card manufacturer for creating "gabling tendencies" in their children.
A group of San Diego parents sued Wizards on The Coast over how they market Pokemon cards. By mot telling what cards were in each pack the parents claimed that their children exhibited symptoms similar to those shown by gamblers when looking at their cards.
Does this mean that we can then sue these parents if they wrap their childrens gifts and do not tell them what is inside?
2 - Group of NY students sue Burger King (if I remember correctly) that the fast-food chain made them fat by forcing them to eat their food several times a week.
What's scary is that I just heard that an appellate court just cleared this suit to go back to trial.
3 - Califonia man sues Las Vegas Hilton & the Mandalay Bay for allowing him to gamble while drunken.
What it all boils down too, these and other cases, is a total lack of a sense of responsibility on the part of the plaintiffs. We seem to think these days that we can do what we want then sue someone else for the damages our stupidity causes.
Think on this:
Angry Anna fans sue Penthouse of $8.99
