Went pistol shoping today

I was out looking at pistols today. I've got it narrowed down to 2 both sigs, both compacts.

my first choise is a p229dak. They didn't have one in stock and didn't know if/when they would get one. They did have a regular 229 though as a .40
and if I can't get a 229 I'm going with a p245. About the same thing only it's a .45 and theres obviously no highcap clips

They were both a little over 600$ brand new. A strange coinicidence that they are having a sale ON MY BIRTHDAY. So I have till feb20th to find a 229dak

Anyone know a place that has these? Unfortuntly there aren't any gun shows between now and my birthday.

Look at sigs in the .357 sig around. It's a monster.

Why the DAK variant and not a regular 229?

No high cap .45? I've seen .45's with 14+1 capacity (1911)

I suspect compact sigs will only hold single stack mags, so ten would max it out.
God....I guess I was probably returning videotapes.

But you could still get magazines (depending on state laws, don't even think about it in CA) that extend beyond the bottom of the pistol. I'm sure that you can find a hi-cap magazine for a SIG somewhere.

And yeah, check out the .357, it's quite the round.

I've shot 9mm, .40 and .45. Prefer .45 due to "solid" Comments on .357 vs .40 in terms of "feel"?

i've got a 229 .40 and i love it. it is only a ten round mag but thats what you get in cali.i'm pretty sure you can get the high capacity mags in nevada at the gun shows. you can also buy an interchangable barrel for them and shoot the sig .357 with it also.

I personally favor the .40 round, I buy all of my pistols in this round as long as they aren't "specialty" pistols aka .50 AE Deagle or a Five-SeveN,

.40 has the mankilling power you need and handles like a 9mm.

If you're looking for a nice sub-compact in .40 check out the Sprinfield XD-40 3" Sub-compact. I have the 4" V-10 ported barrel service model and it's definately my favorite carry gun out of everything I have.

Just some food for thought

If you have your heart set on a DAK, you might have a long wait. Sig won a US contract for DAO and DAK pistols.

To add:
If the situation is anything like when SIG got the M11 (SIG P228) contract, it might be quite some time before they are available to the general public once again.

Don't you like SIG's standard DA/SA trigger?

Well out of all the guns I picked up the p229 and the p245 felt the best. Good balance and the grip fits my hands like it was meant to be

I would perfect the p229 just because munitions are cheaper for a .40 then a .45. High cap clips are a big plus, though not necissary. The DAK I like because of the rail and the shape of the trigger guard. I did find out that sportsmans carries a P229 with night sights and rail and I think I might go down and check it out this weekend. Does anyone know if they made P229's with a rail and/or with the inverted curve on the trigger guard?

I've always wanted a .45 and if I can't find a p229 I like I'll go with the p245 since I know they make these with a rail.

Any more info?

Anyone want to recomend any other guns?
I've looked at glocks, XD, XD compact, several j frames and airlights, springfields 1911acp, USPs, alot of different sigs, a s&w sigma and a few that I can't remember right now. I've actually shot a sigma, colt 1911, sig P220, some sorta old .22, and a barretta.

Thanks
