As stated above, should you receive an e-mail from paypal or such that you are not sure of.

TYPE in there address - NEVER USE A LINK SUPPLIED IN THE E-MAIL and check for any updates. These sites will make there updates prominent to members signing on. It is HIGHLY unlikely paypal will need updates without a reason (you changing accounts, you doing something other than what you normally do, you changing something). Never reply to these e-mails or use the links provided in them. I have seen some very convincing fake paypal websites when you use those links.

Its a scam easy way to tell is look at how they addressed you "Dear Paypal User" Paypal will always address you with your name "Dear John Smith" also Paypal will contact you by mail or phone in matters involving security. If you truly want protection from crap like this I recommend downloading the ebay toolbar which has a great feature called Account Guard which actually lets you know if the site is legit it also prevents you from actually going further into the site.

always make sure any link you go to in the email takes you to a http://www.paypal.com/... site. if its not that, then you're getting fooled.

If they screw up basic grammar it is safe to assume that it is a scam.

Yep, always go to the URL itself, not the link. Also, even tho it takes time to do this, make the effort to report to ebay/paypal of any spoof emails to [email protected].

Also, I check the html code to verify the links. Yes, I have too much time on my hands.
