What just happend? Is my TV haunted?

I just got home, walked into my room and the TV was on. I didn't pay any attention to it, at first, a few seconds later I realized I left the stereo and cd play on but the TV hasn't been on in a couple days. As I turned to look at the TV it turned off. My first though was where is the remote, it was on the table where nothing could have fallen on it. Then I went to maybie one of the other remotes works this TV also, no good.
To top it off about 30 years ago two people were murdered in this house. A 19 or so year old kid killed both his parents. Maybie thier ghosts don't like 19 year olds?

On a more serious note do you think I should ditch the TV as it may be a fire hazzard? I unplugged it already just to be safe.

Trust me, if it comes on now i'm getting the hell out of here. This isn't amityville (although it's close) if I found a gateway to hell in my basement I would flip of Saten and run.

I told two people besides AO and they both said that, I think I really am screwed. You know the crappy part though? It was the cartoon where all the super heros are kids that was on, so I'm gonig to get pwned by a bunch of mini heros.

im guessing its a toshiba or JVC?
could be a few things

1. Practical Joke

2. CRT arcing (defective diode/capacitor)

Arc Sparking from diaodes w/ possible power surge

3. Conductive Grease

actually a common problem in certain types of tv's, and is usually fixed for under $90

i say, just put a porno in the VCR so that when your TV suddenly just comes on again you have something interesting to watch

but say, if it is the ghost of the 2 slain parents, lets just hope they dont disapprove or pron :-D

when I was little our remote worked for the house next door's tv too. I could sit on our roof and mess with there tv while they were watching it and I could see in and watch them freak out and everything. I think they figured it out though because they threw a rock at me once when I was up there.


But ya, could be the neighbors.
