The police corralled NO ONE. I work at Mustang Village, where the majority of the rioting took place. The place was FILLED with drunk, belligerant idiots well before the cops started to take action.

Two people that lived there had their cars overturned and burned. But the cops dispelling crowds that would do this is stupid?

I am absolutely lost as to why people would think that the police would put themselves in harm's way for kicks and giggles. Thanks to all of you college students wanting to "fight the man", I get to work during Mardi Gras, and run the risk of being teargassed...AGAIN.

Give it up, and grow up. It's not that difficult.

I will be cheering on the law enforcement officers, and will not skimp on maintaining my own personal safety.
I'm not applying my argument to the incident which you are talking about. I wasn't there, actually, have never been. What I meant to say is that there are ways to disperse a crowd before it turns violent.

Sometimes cops manage to pull it off and sometimes they don't.

I was just trying to point out that to blame it all on the crowd or all on the cops is rather stupid from both sides.
Return to the free market. Get rid of all government regulations and let society make it's own decisions. Time and again the relaxing of government regulations has increased profits, innovation and the economy.

The SLO cops will come give you a noise violation if you have your tv on after midnight. It seems that anyone that lives in this town that doesnt go to poly or never went has something against the students. I think this town would be nothing if it wasnt for the school. We arent a party school, we arent wild and crazy everyweekend. I think one weekend out of the year should be allowed, as long as it stays in controll.

Do you know what the noise statute is? If it can be heard 50 feet away, in is a noise violation. Especially after 10, which is the city's "quiet hours".

It's against the law. College kids in this town just don't seem to get it.
